Description
Comfortable NOSTRADAMUS Family Home perfectly located in the medieval city of Alet-les-Bains, former capital of Razès, between the city of Carcassonne and the village of Rennes-le-Château and the Pic de Bugarach. In the heart of Cathar Country, surrounded by historic monuments and natural areas, welcome to a sacred place, chosen for its mysteries, all modern amenities amidst antique furniture and works of art. The space The popular veneration that enveloped the memory of NOSTRADAMUS has preserved by oral tradition the family home on the father's side from where the extraordinary epic of the "Nostredame" started. This Jewish Spanish family (Yissaskar Tribe) seeking protection from the Christian Church of Occitania and the Bishops of Aleth crossed the Pyrenees. She settled permanently in the heart of the chosen "Vicus Electensis" valley near the former Benedictine Abbey Nostredame d 'Aleth or Sainte Marie d' Aleth in the centuries-old city surrounded by walls. The original house with earthen walls, and carved wood architecture rose in the 13th century with identity signs that made it possible to qualify the Jewish inhabitants related to the Lords of Carcassonne Trencavel. Renamed in the 15th century, the house was enlarged with the reuse beams to enhance the merchant part with the shop on the ground floor overlooking the Place du Puits (now Place de la République). Abimated during the Wars of Religions, after the death of Michel de Nostredame, the house was restored during the reign of Henry IV and Louis XIV. The house itself is indeed an authentic medieval and Renaissance home of Occitanie merchants. Built in ochre sandstone of Aleth, and half-timbered or half-timbered, it has remarkable canbands with massive oak beams carved with strange and symbolic drawings. Roofed from a roof to a slope, its main facade is pierced on the 1st and 2nd floor of a window with small tiles, and on the ground floor of a wide bay serving as a secular stall. Carefully maintained for centuries by these different owners, it has just been restored in 2020 to regain its radiance and comfort. Nostradamus's house has always been a place of commerce, culture, and dwelling. It was acquired and used by families who have preserved its exceptional character in the heart of the former spiritual capital of Razès: Alet les Bains. Since the restoration of 2020, the interior of 4 small rooms has regained its original volumes and colors. The dark oak woods were once again able to rub shoulders with plaster stucco and white, red, or ochre white lime badges. The decoration tells us today about the different medieval, Renaissance and Classical eras combining furniture, paintings and historical objects related to Nostradamus and the life of the episcopal city. On the ground floor, the shop has become the living room with kitchenette and living room. On the 1st floor are the Bathroom and Bedroom 1. On the 2nd floor, Bedroom 2 unfolds. The whole is a remarkable place of residence and unusual vacation in Occitanie for an independent stay with enthusiasts, friends and family in the heart of history, culture and modern comfort. Welcome. Optional French Breakfast at the price of €12/person including: 1 hot drink (coffee, tea, milk chocolate, etc.) 1 croissant French baguette butter jams honey fresh juice
