Enhanced Cleaning: 1. Additional cleaning/sanitizing w/ hospital-grade cleaners. 2. Disinfection of doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, etc. 3. Additional paper goods as well as disposable silverware, cutting boards & sanitizers. The space Sandy Feet is a 1935 vintage cottage, quaint & timeless, sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms, and is situated across the street from Lake Huron (small view) with private beach access. We also have high speed internet! Breakfast fixings are offered to have with your coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The Sandy Feet beach (2 short blocks away) is shared but private to the few cottages on our street, and rarely crowded. Sandy Feet Cottage pricing is *inclusive* - there are no extra fees for cleaning, linens or weekend stays. Inclusive also means that all paper goods, soaps, and basic necessities (like coffee, tea & hot chocolate, condiments, spices) for your stay are offered. Even oatmeal for breakfast, and cookies warm from the oven are offered to our guests! Nightly and weekly rates (as well as minimum stay) vary depending upon the season. Check the calendar for the rate on your requested dates. There is an additional charge for more than 5 guests, including family/friends who arrive/sleep after your arrival date. The *air-conditioned* cottage has very convenient access (within a mile or two) to restaurants, movie theaters, and all of the major big box stores and grocery chains (delivery available). With this quick and easy access, unusual for most cottage experiences, there is some road noise from nearby Lakeshore Road. This is the only access up the 'thumb' of Michigan, so guests may hear some traffic noise when on the deck or lawn. 3 bedrooms - Primary with king mattress & power adjustable frame, 'Beach Room' with 2 XL twin beds & pullout twin trundle, & 'Bunk Room' with 2 twin bunks & antique skinny twin bed. All three bedrooms have a smart TV with endless streaming options. Living Room - leather couch & board games & puzzles, 49” TV. Kitchen is fully-equipped and outfitted with basics such as spices, oils, and breakfast options. Dining Room for 8 , 1 Bathroom with walk-in shower, Sunroom with a small view of the lake and loads of charm! Located across the street from Lake Huron, a giant deck wraps around two sides of the house with gas grill, umbrella table, chairs, and loungers. The huge yard, great for badminton & croquet (included in the garage), also has a fire pit for evening bonfires. There's a large garage with all the beach toys & games imaginable for the young and young-at-heart. Grab your lightweight wagon with beach chairs, towels and cooler (provided) and head down the block to the paved path to the beach where you can gaze over miles of open water, with it's ever-changing waves & sand. And there's no better place on earth to sip a cup of morning coffee, enjoy a fresh cinnamon roll, and watch the sun rise. Appliances — There are 4 'smart' TVs (49' in lvg rm) with Apple TV+/Hulu/Disney+/Amazon Prime provided, a Bluetooth music system, washer & dryer (supplies provided), and high speed internet augmented with an additional router to be sure there is plenty of strong Wi-Fi access for all devices. Note: all TVs are streaming only - no cable or network TV is available at the cottage (we can recommend local sports bars to catch your favorite games). In addition to linens & towels (both bath & beach), all paper goods, shampoo, soap, spices, coffee, tea & hot chocolate, and chocolate chip cookie dough are provided. There's even extra sunscreen, bug spray, toothpaste, & deodorant if needed! A new gas forced-air furnace will make Sandy Feet toasty in an instant. And for those dog days when fans & the lake breeze are not enough, there's central air conditioning. The Blue Water area is a year-round destination! The beach and waterfront on Lake Huron & the St. Clair River are amazing no matter the season. There are festivals & fairs in all the nearby towns nearly every weekend in June, July and August (Yale Bologna Festival, Lexington Art Fair, Floatdown, Antique Yard Sale Trail, & many more) and lots of fall, winter and spring events & activities as well (Festival of Trees, St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl & Parade, Tom & Jerry's at the famous Brass Rail Bar, fresh apple picking, cider mill and Christmas tree farms). Port Huron's most famous July event is Bayview Yacht Club's Port Huron to Mackinac Sailboat Race, the largest freshwater sailing event of its kind in the world. With over 300 contestants, the event brings boaters and tourists from all over the world to what has become a week-long festival of parades, vendors, and parties. And the start of the race happens right in front of the beach at Sandy Feet Cottage! The historic Fort Gratiot Lighthouse (1829) is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan, and tours are available May through December. We also love the tours of the historic lightship, the Huron. These are just a few of the many recreational, sporting, eating, relaxing and plain old fun that you can have while vacationing in this terrific region. Or, there's always books, games, puzzles for all ages, and simply resting at the cottage or on the beach, on the porch or around the campfire in the fire pit. Do lots or nothing at all! Guest access The Sandy Feet beach (2 short blocks away) is shared but private to the few cottages on our street, and rarely crowded. Please note that the garage is for storage of items that guests may use, and will also accommodate one guest vehicle. Also, the property extends to the right (north) of the driveway, but *not* to the left (south) of the drive. Please respect our neighbor's property and do not recreate or drive on this property for any purpose. A detailed map will be given upon arrival at the cottage. Other things to note We left Port Huron in 1989 for the shiny lights of the big city (Pittsburgh, PA), but our heart & home was always in Port Huron. This is the place where we had our first jobs, met, fell in love, did a bunch of community theater, got married, bought our first house & made a lifetime of great friends. We kept returning most every year since leaving. Whenever we returned, it just felt like coming home. We found that with each visit, we found more and more to do & see in this fabulous region as well as visiting with all of our wonderful friends. In addition to Port Huron, we've traveled the world via Airbnb renting homes, cottages & apartments all across the US & in Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Nicaragua, Turkey, Ecuador, Canada, Italy, & more. After years of renting others, it's great to have a cottage like Sandy Feet to call our own, & to share with family and friends, both old and new!
