Local amenities, including fishing and boating on the River Shannon are also within walking distance . There is an 18 hole pitch and putt club by the river. Many tourist attractions are within 15 to 30 minutes drive.These include Clonmacnoise ancient monastery, Birr Castle and gardens, Lough Boora Parklands and sculpture park,Clonony Castle and Leap Castle. Galway city is an hour by car,and the shopping towns of Athlone and Tullamore are within 35 minutes.
