Our historic home is in the lovely Elmwood Village and also on Buffalo Olmsted Parkway land. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is perfect for 1 or a group of 12. Lots of greats running/walking paths nearby. There is a workout area and a lovely front porch and back patio. We are also a fragrance free home and use all non toxic cleaning supplies. We are walking distance to a lot of restaurants, shops, bars, museums and parks. We are close to a few universities and walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shopping. We are also very close to the park, museums and art galleries. Our Air BNB has a HEPA medical grade air purifier on the second floor that cleans the air of toxins and chemicals. The Austin Air Healthmate Plus® Air Purifier has broad-spectrum absorption and will remove the widest range of chemicals and VOC’s, as well as allergens, pet dander, dust, mold, viruses, bacteria and formaldehyde. We also have an Intellipure air purifier on the first floor. We have reverse osmosis for drinking water and a whole house water treatment/softener for the entire home. We are also a “green” home and use all non toxic cleaning supplies and most of the mattresses are made with natural materials. All bedding is cotton and mostly organic. The entire house has central air conditioning along with a few window units on the third floor for additional comfort. Downtown Buffalo and Canalside is 3 miles away and Niagara Falls is about a 20-25 minute drive. We also can recommend a beautiful drive along the river to the Falls. (You will need your passport for this drive.)The Elmwood Village is a quaint area full of shops, restaurants, museums, and parks. Park your car and you can walk the neighborhood. Our Historic Home was built in 1906 on land surrounded by landscaped circles, parkways and avenues that lead to open public parks. Soldiers Place is one of Olmsted's circles with a center median and broad parkways radiating from it. The streets surrounding Soldiers were named for Civil War Heroes: General Bidwell, Chapin and Lincoln. It is a Georgian inspired Colonial Revival style with a cross gable roof. The front porch has iconic columns supporting clapboard, and a leaded glass window. The inside has been primarily restored to its original form with all of the wood being stripped and preserved. Most the woodwork is quarter sawn oak. The restoration we did was featured on HGTV, Restore America. You will have access to the entire home except 2 rooms we use for storage. We will be available as needed during your stay. You can walk everywhere. Lots of fun things to do in this area and great dining, bars and plenty of activity. The Elmwood Village neighborhood has everything . Great walking and bike paths as well. The Albright Knox Art Gallery is 2 blocks away along with a few other galleries. Uber and Lyft are great options The house is over 110 years old and in a very historic area of Buffalo along with a Frank Lloyd Wright house across the street. Our home and all the houses in the neighborhood have a great story behind them.
