Enjoy a coastal break in this delightful traditional end terraced cottage in the village of Auchmithie. Packed with history this charming property was formerly two cottages which have been in the family for over 100 years. It has been lovingly renovated to a good standard and makes an excellent base for exploring this wonderful coastline of sandy beaches and rugged coves. For dogs, the owner provides pet beds and bowls. The area is steeped in fishing history and the first Arbroath Smokie was said to have been produced in Auchmithie and has now become a speciality of the area. These delicacies can be purchased in the excellent fish shops in the harbour area of Arbroath, just a couple of miles away. The pebbly bay below Auchmithie is marked at one end with sheer sandstone cliffs punctuated by caves, making it popular with smugglers in past times. Arbroath is within easy reach with plenty of shops and eateries and there is much to do for the visitor here and in the surrounding area; take a boat trip round the Bell Rock Lighthouse, visit Arbroath Abbey or enjoy the magnificent beaches at Lunan Bay and Montrose. There’s also plenty of wildlife to see from the magnificent sights of thousands of pink footed geese at the Montrose Basin to dolphins, porpoises and ospreys. Inland, the renowned Angus Glens are superb for walkers. For more cosmopolitan days out, the city of Dundee is within a short drive where you will find plenty of restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops and worth a visit is the V & A Museum of Design.
