Description

A neatly crafted, 2-bedroom cabin, Everitt Point sits at the end of a sandy peninsula thick with pine, maple, paper birch and blueberry bushes. A cherished family getaway since the mid-1950's, the cabin's many windows overlook Tomahawk Lake's Muskie Bay. The space It is bordered by a nature conservancy over which the sun sets, where beaver and deer are seen daily and to which bald eagles, loons, great blue heron and other wildlife are regular visitors. The property includes a lake access dock and a canoe with accessories. Boat rentals are available nearby. A fire pit in front of the house overlooks the lake, a perfect place to toast marshmallows and watch the moon rise. Sand roads connect to miles of forested walking trails. The cabin's interior is finished in knotty pine with an open raftered ceiling. The modest, cottage style bath includes a shower, no bathtub. One bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed, the other with a set of single beds and a pull-down upper bunk. The full kitchen is nothing fancy, but includes all of the basic appliances: electric stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker as well as dishes and utensils. The living room and dining area include comfortable chairs, sofa and a dining table. A beautiful gas fireplace keeps the cabin cozy warm through September. The property enjoys private, unspoiled views of and access to the nature conservancy and lake and, other than the frogs, is serenely quiet. There are other seasonal homes nearby, all part of a community of long-term, mutually considerate neighbors. Please bring appropriate food and personal supplies. There are plenty of blankets and pillows for all the beds. Guests need to bring their own sheets, bedding, bath towels and beach towels. At 3,400 acres, Tomahawk is 29th largest among Wisconsin's more than 15,000 lakes. It is prime territory for bass, muskie, crappie, northern pike and walleye. About a third of its shoreline is state owned, leaving many islands and forrested stretches of shoreline undeveloped and waiting to be explored. There are no towns, but countless picnic and swimming areas in the many nooks and crannies along Tomahawk's shore. Everitt Point is directly across the lake from the University of Wisconsin's 135-acre Kemp Station natural science center. The center provides a nature walk and naturalist seminars on various subjects in addition to courses for university students and land and wildlife management professionals. The winding Tomahawk Thoroughfare links Tomahawk Lake to a string of adjacent lakes, including Lake Minocqua and Kawaguesaga, where on-the-water restaurants and marinas allow boaters to tie-up a short walk from shopping and other attractions. A restaurant and boat gas station are within several minutes boat ride from Everitt Point. Guest access Entire house and property will be yours to explore
