The only difference is you won’t find the hustle & bustle of those enclaves: consider instead the 38 bird species, 165 acre wilderness preserve, and endless trails abutting our property. Our cottage consists of three structures: large Main House, adorable Tiny House, and new contemporary Carriage House -aka ‘Barndo’! The space The entire property is available for you and your guests. Lots of common areas for gathering and most bedrooms are en-suite with comfortable chairs for reading or just chilling before the next round of croquet, golf or sailing. Ours is a comfortable home not stuffy which is not code for ‘yard sale’ finds. Rather it means it has been thoughtfully put together- colors, fabrics, art, and rugs coordinated and meant to enhance your vacation and remind you that you’rexcf loop b in Maine at a beach cottage. Weber grills, Adirondack chairs, and ‘al fresco’ dining areas complete your stay. Not to mention there are three separate kitchens and six 1/2 baths. Ample parking (assigned) on property ensures no parking ticket surprises await you in the morning. There are three decks off of the Big House (BH), one off of the Tiny House (TH) and a sure to awe & delight rooftop deck looking seaward atop of the new Carriage House (CH)! Our cottage compound is ten minutes walk to almost anywhere you’d want to go in Castine including the historic Dices Head lighthouse, 168-acre Witherle Woods. Castine is ideal for holidays as it is replete with oceanside bluffs, several beaches, churches, pubs, groceries, tennis, golf, and sailing clubs- and YES even an insanely good bakery where ‘diets go to die’! You’ve been warned. Castine and our cottage compound also serves as a wonderful base camp for exploring the larger geographic area- whether you drive North or South or take a boat East you will find a treasure trove of sights, and scenic vistas, an feast of farm to table dining venues and more road side lobster shacks than you can point a claw at. Bar Harbor and Camden are both about 1.15 away and to the East the mythical islands of Isle au Haut, Mohegan, and North Haven await your adventurous spirit! Castine is a lovely town and offers all that you seek for a summer holiday with friends and family- and our cottage compound, located on the westerly edge of the village (near the lighthouse and woods preserve), is the perfect place to ruminate, recreate and rusticate away your time DownEast. Because La Tour Street is the road time forgot, and aside from the raucous concert the birds put together at dawn you’ll rarely hear a car or tourist disrupting your nap or fierce game of lawn croquet!
