Farm & country stay!
Farm & country stay!
Description
Our 18th century farmhouse is on a real working farm. Cows graze in pastures behind the Inn. Sequestered in one of the oldest historic areas of the country, we are a short (free) ferry ride across the James River from historic Jamestown & Williamsburg. Agrarian by design, this area has been in cultivation since humans first began to plant seed. We are an hour's drive to Richmond, to Virginia Beach, to Norfolk and less than that on the ferry to Williamsburg. The space The farmhouse, while still on the working farm is far enough away from the comings and goings of the farm to provide a quiet, peaceful setting. We trace the lineage and know all the inhabitants from the 1700's. A meditation teacher used it for a month to plan her year! Guest access You may walk all over the farm and see the cows (Belted Galloways, or Oreos, & Angus, heritage breed pigs and chickens. AND we have a blueberry and blackberry orchard too. Want to walk in the woods? Our farm is over 400 acres with 200 or so in cultivation, the other 200 are wooded. Other things to note The farm is 13 miles from the ferry landing, truly in farming country. It is rural, but there is a grocery store, pharmacy and a few restaurants 2 miles away in nearby Wakefield, home of the iconic Virginia Diner.
