Ann C., Rockaway, NY June 2011 This was my second Yoga retreat here on Laurel Island. It was as fantastic if not more! I was so looking forward to this weekend, and really hate to see it end. I truly can’t wait to come back. Kim F., Tampa FL, June 2011 Our large group visited Laurel Island for a work retreat, and everyone had a fantastic time! Jack and Jan were very accommodating with our complicated boat schedule (guests coming and going at all hours) and worked with us patiently ahead of time to coordinate all of the details. The cabins are charming - each with their own character and feel - plus they all have decks and docks on the water. The lodge is well-appointed and very large, with lots of activities and space for everyone. We especially enjoyed using the kitchen, all of the water sport equipment (canoes, kayaks, tubes), board games, ping pong table, and large outdoor patio/deck. The island is well-maintained but still feels like you're out in nature - there are lots of fun forested spaces to explore and the plants and grass are cared for. The hammocks and benches scattered across the island are really nice surprises and lovely to relax in. The lake itself is especially great - it's clean with a sandy bottom, nice for swimming and the canoes and kayaks provided (though beware of large underwater rocks near the main dock). It really seems like you can find the equipment for any kind of activity already stashed somewhere on the island - and Jack was available to answer all of our questions and help out during our stay. (He even built a campfire for marshmallow roasting for us!) All in all, Laurel Island was exactly what we were looking for - peaceful, fun, beautiful, unique, and convenient! Definitely recommend!
