Direct access hiking trails behind the house & sitting on the Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge (SRK) trail. Walk to the pub in five minutes at the end of the day or enjoy the comfortable deck, trees and have a BBQ at home. Or start reading one of over 500 books on site. The space Originally a one room hunting cabin built in the 1950's, the cabin was expanded and winterized with a bedroom and kitchen later on. This old part of the house has a rustic beamed ceiling and gas stove for heat. In the 1980's a modern addition & bathroom were added on with radiant heat floors. Over the past 15 years it has been a well loved ski getaway. In 2020 the house was given some love and updated with significant renovations. You'll have fun here! The main bedroom with a queen bed, remodeled in 2020, is accessible by a custom made ship's ladder that takes you up into a pine board room with a view of the trees. Flip on the spotlight near the window and watch for deer from the comfy reading chair. Pour some drinks and have a party at the custom built Cubby Bar in the living room if the weather is cold and dreary, or move the party outdoors and grill out on a deck that was built with hanging out in mind. Enjoy the coziness of the old cabin side kitchen/dining room with a high top table that seats six next to the gas fire. Play a game. Listen to some music. Bring some supplies and cook up a feast. The front bedroom - hidden behind the barn door - has two twin beds. Guest access The whole house and two acres! Other things to note The house is not ideal or recommended for toddlers or people with mobility problems. People (and dogs) may find it easy to get up the ship's ladder to the master bedroom but difficult to get down. 90% of dogs are able to manage. People with knee replacement or unsure of their footing may not be comfortable ascending to the master bedroom. The house is looked after by neighbors who live down the street, so unauthorized activity (i.e. parties, fires, etc.) will be well noted and documented. This is not a perfectly isolated cottage in the woods. You can still hear the road, though the property is not directly on the road. Kitchen is stocked on with most essentials like oil, spices, dry goods, some cooking basics like pasta, coffee. that are ours and you are free to use. We don't restock everything with each cleaning though and supplies can get diminished over time. The house is not available for rent at all times so this gets a refresh several times a year.
