Warrior Trail Lodging, LLC The Caretta Cottage

Located approximately 6 minutes to War, WV and HMT trailhead. A Short, nice ride to the Wilmore Dam, and to High Rocks. NEW ADDITIONAL PARKING FOR LARGE TRAILERS across the street from the Cottage. In addition to approximately 50 ft. in front, 40 ft. in back, 30 ft. on the side of the cottage. SEE PARKING PHOTOS. We are on Rt 16, part of the ”Head of the Dragon” Motorcycle Riding Route in Caretta, WV. You will have easy on/off access to “Warrior Trail” from Caretta or War. The space You can access the trail from Caretta by turning Left down the road at the school, following past the community until you see the yellow gate. Turn right and Sharp left up the mountain this goes to Warrior. Or, you can go over to War which is a 6 min ride. The trailhead is on the east side of town. In War, we have Grants Supermarket, Dollar General, and the local restaurants, “The Owl”, Bunky’s Burgers, Taco Todd’s and Josie’s ice cream. You can get gas at Hillbilly Market and purchase Trail permits. A two minute drive through town will take you to the Warrior Trailhead. You may travel anywhere on your ATV, or SxS. Berwind Lake is about 4 miles from War. There’s fishing, Canoeing, picnic areas, swings, a beautiful hiking trail to walk around the lake. The lakes swimming pool is open around Memorial Day until end of Summer swimming season. At the upper end of the lake you can ride a dirt road across barewallow hollow which is a beautiful adventurous ride. This will take you to Spearhead Trails in Va at the top of the mountain. Guest access PHOTOS IN LISTING OF PARKING, in the front, back and side of cottage. New parking added for large trailers across the street. Other things to note Short cut Connector to Warrior is less than a mile. Go down the street turn left at old School. Follow pass the community until you see yellow gate, turn right and Sharp Left up the mountain. This will take you right to Warrior. Also, get on and off Warrior in town of War. Trailhead is on east end of town, pass Southside elementary school go around curve turn Left at the sign.
