A perfect tiny escape from busy life for those wishing to venture a bit out of town. Our charming woodland home nestles within the tree canopy, backed into the Big Ivy Pisgah National Forest. Rejuvenate in this incredibly peaceful retreat imbued by a melodious orchestra of birds and insects. Relax on the swing with a warm brew or refreshing beverage. The space The Woodland Chalet's elegant design offers a spacious feel in a 12x12 footprint with a ladder accessible 8x10 sleeping loft. Enjoy the forest immersion from the deck or cozy up inside. These accomodations are accessed by 150 feet of inclining footpath from the closest parking spot. There is a heater for colder months, a fan for warmer months. We provide organic coffee, half & half, and assorted teas. The kitchen is equipped with delicious spring water plumbed right to the sink, a small fridge, 2 burner propane stove, toaster oven, grill, French press for coffee, small tea pot and the basics to create a farm fresh meal if inclined. A quaint dining nook includes two stools and a fold-down table. There is a small washroom with a mini sink and flush toilet. PLEASE ONLY FLUSH TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET TO AVOID MAJOR PROBLEMS. The outdoor shower is private and includes plenty of on-demand hot water along with basic body care products. (***We keep the SHOWER OFF WHEN TEMPERATURES remain below FREEZING for over 24 hours, OTHERWISE WE GUIDE GUESTS ON HOW TO USE THE VALVE SYSTEM DURING WINTER MONTHS!!!***) All natural products maintain the cleanliness of this space. There is an outdoor fire pit area that guests enjoy using during dry weather. We encourage folks to pick up a bundle of seasoned wood from a grocery store on there way here if they intend to have fires. (Please no collection of firewood on site) And please be careful to burn ONLY during non windy and not too dry conditions and always make sure the fire is out before leaving the space unattended. Guest access Hiking available right outside the door... Wander carefully down the whimsical winding steps out into our 20 acres of rolling forest and up into the national forest, or drive a mile to hiking and biking in the Big Ivy (Coleman Boundary), where one can discover epic fairy swimming holes, a multitude of waterfalls (including Douglas Falls) & options for rockclimbing. Drive 10 minutes to Navitat for a zipline adventure or consider booking a therapeutic massage with one of our community's therapists. Other things to note First time visitors should ARRIVE BEFORE DARK or arrange with the hosts for a guide to the treehouse. These accomodations are accessed by 150 feet of inclining footpath from the closest parking spot. Solar lights illuminate the path upon nightfall. We welcome all kinds of people yet the trail access, whimsical staircase and loft ladder require able bodied individuals seeking a bit of eclectic adventure.
