SERENITY: Waterfront Cottage Rice Lake, Keene ON

Our cozy cottage is compact and can accommodate up to 4 individuals (incl. children). "Serenity" is one of 18 individually owned cottages at "Elmgrove Resort". We are not a busy commercial resort and some owners don't rent ensuring peace and tranquility during your stay. Our waterfront cottage boasts an incredible view of Rice Lake! The cottage comes with AC, wifi, 3-piece bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, propane barbecue, sunroom, elevated deck and semi private dock. The space ***NOTE: This seasonal cottage is available for rental from late May to mid October. Also, our cottage is compact in size and therefore there is a strict MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY of 4 people (including children). ______________________________________________________________ Before booking your stay, please read the description below thoroughly to ensure you are clear on what we DO and DO NOT provide. In particular, we DO NOT PROVIDE LINENS (if you can't bring your own, please do not rent!) Elmgrove Resort is only 90 minutes from Toronto and is located on the north shores of pristine Rice Lake in Peterborough. Rice Lake connects to the Trent Severn Waterway via the Otonabee River and is the gateway to the Kawarthas Lakes. This lake is an extremely popular destination for relaxing, swimming, fishing and boating. The lake is considered the most bountiful in Ontario with Panfish, Walleye, Muskie, Bluegill, Crappie and Bass. Our cottage “Serenity” is a compact & cozy 2-bedroom cottage with many features and amenities for a relaxing and worry-free getaway. We are a waterfront property and is only 20 feet from the lake. Guests can enjoy the amazing view of Rice Lake either from the sunroom, elevated deck or our semi-private dock. COTTAGE AMENITIES WE PROVIDE: Wi-fi: Professionally installed from the best service providers available in this part of cottage country. It has good connection most of the time. However, NO GUARANTEE! Connection strength will depend on weather, high traffic and service provider. Cooling: AC in main living area and ceiling fans in all other room. Extra portable fans are available. Heating: Space heater in main living area. Portable electric heaters for bedrooms. Bedrooms (2): Each room has a Double Sized bed, 2 standard size pillows and room darkening blinds. Mattresses and pillows are covered with hypoallergenic covers. Kitchen: Fridge, Cooking range, Microwave, Toaster Oven/Air fryer, Slice toaster, Drip Coffee Maker, Cookware, Dishes and Cutlery. Bathroom: Indoor 3-piece with tub, sink and toilette. Bathmat and hair dryer available. Entertainment: 40" Smart TV with Netflix access (streaming ability is dependent on Wi-Fi). DVD player available with selection of movies. Elevated Deck: Propane Barbecue, Picnic table, Sun umbrella, Foldable loungers (2), Portable chairs (2). Sunroom: All glass sliding doors, futon, table and 4 chairs. Semi-private Dock: Located at the most left of the resort (when facing the lake). Shared with one other cottage (#6). There is space to dock one boat (host notification required). Note: Guests are responsible for any damage or loss should they occur to their watercraft. HOUSEKEEPING: Our cottage is professionally cleaned before and after each reservation. Cleaning fee charged covers only a portion of what we pay. Guests are required to drop off all garbage/recycling at the resort disposal bins and return the cottage in tidy condition with all used household items put back in their original storage. Excessive mess requiring extra time from the cleaning staff will incur a $100 fee from the security deposit. Cleaning Supplies: Vacuum cleaner, Broom, Dustpan, Cleaning supplies. Water: Hot and cold lake treated tap water. Plug-in water cooler available should guest wish to use a large bottle (can purchase at Costco, local grocery stores) Other Miscellaneous: First-Aid kit, Umbrellas, Bug swatters, Flashlights. SWIMMING: Our shoreline is excellent for swimming. The water is quite shallow and usually is not deep until past the docks. Guests can enter the lake from our dock or at any point along the waterfront. There is also a cleared area for easy access into the lake located to the right of the community dock. The bottom of the lake is graveled so water shoes are highly recommended. NOTE: You are responsible for your own safety when engaging in any activities in or on the lake. There are no lifeguards. PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING (WE DO NOT PROVIDE): • Linens: Bath towels, beach towels, kitchen towels and any other linens you typically use • Beddings: Bed sheets & pillowcases, blankets/comforters. NOTE: Each bedroom is equipped with a double mattress and 2 standard pillows. • Disposable Household Goods: Toilette paper, paper towel, Kleenex. We do leave small dispensers of hand and dish soap. You are responsible for refills if they run out during your stay. •Entertainment/Recreational Items: Inflatable devices (paddle boards/canoes/kayaks, etc.), life jackets if you plan to engage in water activities. Portable games or any items for entertainment. Fishing gear including container/bucket if you plan to keep the fish. NOTE: To keep the cottage clean, we ask that you DO NOT wear outdoor footwear inside the cottage, therefore please bring slippers if you’re not comfortable going bare feet. Guest access During your stay you have access to the entire cottage with the exception of 2 storage areas which contain items for our exclusive use when we stay at the cottage. Since there are no locks, signage are posted so guests can be informed. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Parking: All vehicles must be parked in the designated parking area across from the cottages (30 feet away), and not in front of the cottage. Dock Access: Guests have access to both our semi-private dock (shared with cottage #6) as well as the resort community dock located just 2 cottages to the right of ours. Fire Pit: There is a resort campfire pit behind the driveway, and generally has a supply of firewood (if not, you need to supply your own). This is the ONLY place on the resort where you can have a campfire. Fires must be kept small and not left unattended at any point. Playground for children. Fish Cleaning Hut: Located at the left end of resort (when facing the lake). Fish cleaning is not permitted inside the cottage and can only be carried out in the cleaning hut. Garbage & Recycle Bins, no compose: Located at the end of the graveled driveway into the resort, on your left. The township of Keene is very strict about what they accept for recycling. When in doubt, throw items in "garbage". Please follow the Garbage/Recycling instructions posted on the fridge. Resort Quiet Hours: Daily from 10 PM to 8 AM. Other things to note The renter must be at least 25 years of age. Also, our cottage is located in a quiet family oriented resort. Loud boisterous activity is not permitted. We have a strict limit of 4 people in the cottage (including children) as well as a no pets. SMOKING - No smoking inside the cottage. Guests may smoke on the outdoor deck, ashtrays can be found under the kitchen sink. No Weed on the deck and 20 metres around the cottage. FIRE - Do not ignite any fire related items indoor or on the outdoor deck such as CANDLES, PORTABLE CHARCOAL BBQ, etc. The cottage and deck is made of wood and hence will burn easily if any fire trigger. Trailers and tents are not permitted.
