Description

Welcome to the Borrego Yurt! We offer a unique desert experience in the heart of beautiful Borrego Springs. Enjoy the serenity of this spectacular area, and sleep comfortably and sustainably. The yurt is powered by solar, and the amenities are all designed with our planet in mind. If you are a seasoned camper or a weekend-getaway lover, our yurt will provide you with an unforgettable stay. Located near the center of town. Point on Airbnb is not accurate to respect privacy of our neighbors. The space What makes our place so special? It’s a yurt! What is a yurt? Traditionally, a yurt is a portable, round, covered tent used as a dwelling by several distinct nomadic groups in the steppes of Central Asia. Our yurt in Borrego Springs offers you a unique experience that is a little bit like rustic camping, but with comforts and the convenience of a town within walking distance -- all while being eco-conscious. While there is no electricity, the yurt utilizes solar lights, there is an indoor propane heater, heated outdoor shower, a separate eco-outhouse, a spacious patio, and a fire pit for relaxing under the stars. You will have full private access to the yurt, outdoor shower, eco-outhouse, patio, and fire pit. Parking is on the property. Located at the rear of a 1-acre property. There is a house with a resident living in the front of the acre. We do have neighbors on the adjacent 1-acre parcel. This doesn't effect the ability to enjoy the Yurt and property. Guest access The yurt is on a spacious private property. Enter via a private driveway, and enjoy the full yurt site: one-room circular yurt, patio with outdoor dining area, detached eco-outhouse, and fire pit. Other things to note Because of this unique experience, we ask all guests to carefully read and re-read the Yurt Guidebook to fully understand how to operate all aspects of the yurt for a comfortable stay. Borrego Springs is a small town and has a designated "dark sky" which means ambient light is limited in the evenings for maximum star-gazing. The yurt interior and exterior is dimly lit by solar lights for this reason. Our neighborhood is generally quiet. We have great neighbors that enjoy the outdoors and on rare occasions will have family gatherings and BBQs. They have chickens and a rooster that occasionally has a broken alarm clock to wake you up for the desert sunrise. A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE - The outhouse features an eco compost toilet (instructions on how to use are in the Guidebook and posted in the outhouse). While there is a sink inside the yurt there is no running water; instead we have provided a large water pitcher with a filter, with a dump bucket (it sounds silly but works fantastically for hand washing, teeth brushing, face cleansing, etc.!). The outdoor shower is heated on-demand by a propane heater. There is also another propane heater in the yurt for chilly nights. All of this information is in the Yurt Guidebook in detail, but important to point out to set expectations accordingly. Please note that there is no Wifi: we encourage you to unplug, this is part of the unique experience! But the yurt is located close to the main center of town so cell service is strong if you need to stay connected. DAMAGED ITEMS: We understand that sometimes things happen. But if guests show complete disregard in the destruction of items (e.g. towels and linens) that must be replaced, guests will be charged for these items. Please be mindful before using items in ways they should not be used.
