Two rooms to call your own!

A sunny daylight basement in central Bellingham (equidistant in travel time between Seattle and Vancouver). A bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a colorful sitting room with a twin-sized daybed, a table suitable for working, mini fridge and coffee/tea station -- all accessed via a private entrance through a quiet backyard. Bathroom is shared with host. This is an Airbnb in the traditional sense. Reasonably priced, comfortable but in a working house. A place to land with space, warm, good wifi. The space You get the full daylight basement (note that there are twelve stairs down to your rooms) -- a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and overstuffed chair, and also a sitting room with a twin-sized daybed, a small table for working, and a station set up with coffee, tea, kettle, and snacks. The space is cozy enough for a single person or couple, but the extra room with daybed makes it suitable friends or family travelling together. The furnishings are colorful and the walls feature professional photography, including a large canvas photo of Mt. Baker to gaze at while relaxing in the bedroom. You have plenty of space and privacy, and wifi of course! There is a bathroom upstairs and this is shared with the family. Upstairs is also where you'll find the shared kitchen with full utensils, microwave, herbs, spices etc which you are more than welcome to use. You have a private entrance from the backyard, but please feel free to use the shared front door entrance as well. In fact, while you are welcome to park out back in the alleyway and use your own entrance through the backyard, we generally recommend parking in front and using the shared front entrance, as it can be dark and sometimes slick on the back deck (especially at night and in winter). So come and go through the front or back as you like. There is a kitchen available to guests of more than one night but please note that this is not a congregating space. The house is small and open plan so it just isn't practical for people to hang out in the kitchen. Feel free to use the fridge and whip up a quick meal but be aware that the upstairs is really the host's domain. We are a friendly room-mate team. Oh, and two cats! We are upstairs working during the day and generally around in the evening should you need anything. We are a non smoking household but smoking outside is fine. Need a ride to the airport? We can probably get you there in time and in style! $15 extra. Just ask in advance to be sure! Guest access You have the full downstairs to yourself. The shared bathroom, upstairs is fully available to you. There is a kitchen available to guests of more than one night but please note that this is not a congregating space. If you are looking for somewhere with a full kitchen you might want to consider a listing for an entire house. Laundry is also available to guests of more than one night. We ask that you restrict laundry use to one or, at most, two loads The living room and den also count as the host's area and are not generally available to guests. During your stay I'm a friendly guy and I'm here to help with anything you need. Other things to note Short Term Rental Permit Number- USE2019-0034 I have a grumpy cat who stays upstairs. Our space is not suitable for pets or young children, both of which have been known to upset our cats. This is a lovely and clean home but please be aware that it IS a vibrant, wabi-sabi, working family home with imperfections. For example, the backyard is more meadow than manicured for the sake of the birds and other ecological reasons. Our home is not brand new, and it has a few flaws, but I strive to keep it clean and comfortable. I am also a photographer who specialises in family and portrait work and, if you would like to talk about a shoot while you're here, I am knowledgable about the area and could help you capture some lovely shots at local beauty spots.
