Firewood & Outdoor Fires Firewood is provided for the indoor wood stove only. If you’d like to enjoy the outdoor fire pit, please bring your own wood — you can purchase some on your way here or gather a bit from the surrounding woods. Please note that during certain weather conditions, local burn bans may restrict the use of outdoor fires (see “Burn Bans & Safety Notices” below). Wildlife & Insects Being surrounded by woods means you may occasionally encounter wildlife and insects — it’s all part of the natural beauty of mountain living. We take proactive measures to prevent small critters like mice from entering the home. If traps are in use, they’re discreetly and safely placed. Insects, including ticks, are common outdoors year-round. We recommend using bug spray during warmer months and doing tick checks after outdoor activities. If you’re traveling with a pet (when permitted at other properties), please ensure they are on a preventative treatment. Weather & Road Conditions Mountain weather can be unpredictable — you may experience snow, ice, rain, mud, or sudden temperature changes. We do our best to keep walkways and paths clear, but please use caution. Rock salt is available in winter, though extreme cold may cause ice to refreeze. The driveway is plowed after approximately 3–5 inches of snow, depending on conditions and the plow schedule. All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles are strongly recommended, especially during the winter months. Burn Bans & Safety Notices Weather and fire conditions can change quickly in the mountains. Local or state authorities may issue burn bans, road closures, or state of emergency notices that affect the use of outdoor fire pits, campfires, or cooking fires. These orders must be followed when in effect. Failure to comply may result in fines issued by local fire or police departments. Please understand that these situations are beyond our control, and we cannot be held responsible for any restrictions. Your cooperation helps keep you, our community, and our mountain environment safe. Thank you for understanding and helping us protect this beautiful area!
