Beautiful mountain chalet built in 1953 and remodeled in 2016. Nestled at the end of a long driveway, off Route 4 at the base of Pico Mountain. 15 minutes to Killington Mountain and Rutland, 20 to Woodstock. House sits on 50 acres of woods with private hiking and cross-country skiing trails for guests to use. Huge open living room, opposite the den has windows on three sides, is filled with light and cush seating for lounging while bird and bear watching! The space Your space is the top floor of a two story house. Temporary guest the basement, walk-out apartment, (separate studio/suite on the basement level of the house. NO SHARED ENTRANCE This does not impact the living space of guests. Guests will have complete privacy and no shared spaces during their stay. Madelyn, the owner, lives in a small yellow house at the other end of the very long driveway with her own yard, porch, garage etc. As a guest you have access to the entire top floor (which includes a massive deck and small grill that only guest have access to)and one bay in the three car garage where firewood for the outside pit (only as the fireplace is in operable this year )and recycling bins/trash are located. The entire yard and woods beyond are for guests to hike and explore. High chair, booster seat, snow shoes, and four kayaks available upon request. Alexa is there for your music needs! The mudroom has a 1/2 bathroom, washer, dryer, and bench for taking off your heavy winter boots or wet swim clothes. The house is airy and breezy in the summer and kept warm in the winter with central heating, a fireplace in the den, and a fireplace below that Heidi keeps stoked on those coldest of nights when having a warm floor to walk on is key. There is dishwasher, full fridge, gas oven, microwave, Kitchen-Aid mixer, pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, silverware, and cocktail glasses for your use. There are oil lamps and a cast-iron basin for small fires outside, and binoculars in the living room so you can watch for wild-life while you lounge. Please, no more than 6 guests max. We are just two people, and need to keep maintenance manageable. So please no big parties, or outside guests. The house has been loved for its entire life, and used by people who care for it. Al and Helen, family friends left it to us when they passed away. Al, a builder, blacksmith, handyman, and artisan, who we loved, made many of the beautiful features and furniture in the house. You'll likely see his touch in details of the space and the land. Its our hope that you love and enjoy it too. You will receive a key when you arrive. Or be greeted by owner or host. Guest access Trails on the fifty acres are ready for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing and trail biking. Guest are encouraged to enjoy the property. Owner lives on the property in her own home, so some privacy there is appreciated. Other things to note The home is fully alarmed, has hard wired fire and carbon monoxide alarms as well as a low temperature monitor during the winter months. ***Please no dogs or other pets unless there is a discussion and approval by owned ahead of the booking. *** Thank you
