It is a private apartment located in an old (1800’s) New England home, cozy, warm, sparkly clean and charming with total privacy. The space Charming and sunny one bedroom apartment in classic Rockland, Maine. We have a private apartment in our New England home located within walking distance of the beautiful and classic costal town of Rockland. Perfect for adults, one couple or one person. Cozy, warm and inviting with a separate and private entrance as well as off street parking. It occupies two floors with kitchen nook, sitting area and bathroom (with stall shower) on first floor. Sunny and bright bedroom with adjacent TV/sitting/lounging room located on the second floor. There is a narrow steep set of stairs leading to the second floor as are typical in many old New England houses and for this reason it is important you are able to manipulate the stairway without difficulty (refer to staircase picture). This space is not appropriate for children or those with physical disabilities. It’s important to note sleeping arrangements are on the second floor and the bathroom is at the bottom of the very steep staircase on the first floor. The downstairs space is sunny and cozy with open kitchen and sitting area. The kitchen is small, but fully functional with refrigerator, stove, dishware, glassware etc... and stocked with the basics to get you started. The upstairs space is very quiet and peaceful, conducive to a good nights sleep under a down quilt. This unique and charming space is not for everyone, it is not as perfectly manicured, as you would find in a Hotel, but it is so much more. It is a perfect fit for those of you who are looking for quiet and peaceful old world charm but for those of you who prefer the predictable luxury and ease of an Hotel stay this would not be for you. Other things to note steep staircase, it’s imperative guests must be comfortable maneuvering up and down the steep narrow staircase, the bedroom is upstairs in the bathroom is downstairs. As with many old homes in Maine there is no air conditioning, though I do provide a large rotating fan in the bedroom as well as a small window fan. There are a few days every summer where it is uncomfortably hot, please be prepared for this if you are traveling in July or August. This is a very old house, the floors are not completely even and it has many quirks, some guests love the funky charm, but it’s not for everyone. Please note a small Chihuahua named Louie lives here, you may hear barking from time to time.
