Sky Island Retreat is a quiet and peaceful hilltop retreat in which you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this historic area. The casita is the original but updated ranch house built in the late 60’s. We have kept much of its original charm while upgrading to modern comfort and conveniences. We are located on a privately gated property just minutes from the heart of Sonoita and Southern AZ’s growing wine country. The space Our cozy casita is located beyond the main house and near the organic garden. It provides two bedrooms (1 King & 1 Queen) with 1 bathroom. Upgraded conveniences include Heating, AC, WiFi and Internet TV. The porch provides ample outdoor seating with incredible unobstructed views of the surrounding area. Comfortable living room furniture with plenty of snuggly throws available to relax indoors. We provide a fully appointed kitchen and outdoor gas BBQ so you can either prepare your own meals or partake of the local fare. We are located on a privately gated property just minutes from the heart of Sonoita and Southern AZ’s growing wine country. Hike or bike on National Forest Land, book a wine tasting tour or engage in other amazing activities close by. Additional attractions include two lakes with boating and fishing, shops, restaurants, horseback riding, and an abundance of birding and wildlife viewing areas. You may plan day trips to Kartchner Caverns State Park, Tombstone, Bisbee, Patagonia, or Tubac. If we are having a good Monsoon Season (July-Sept) it is an amazing time to visit. The afternoon rain, thunder and lightning storms are truly spectacular! The stars at night are amazing and this is one of the top night skies viewing areas! Our property beckons you to relax and read a book or plan an adventure to the many nearby attractions. With so many wineries, breweries and outdoor adventures available to you it may be hard to choose relaxation or action! You may glimpse deer, hummingbirds, migrating birds, roadrunners, longhorn cattle, pronghorn antelope or javelina. Sometime during your stay, plan to be greeted by our resident pet dogs, Lili, K2 and Anja. Guest access Guests have a private entrance & full access to the Casita, which is shared only with others in their group. Other things to note We allow a maximum of 4 adults or a total of 4 guests per reservation.
