High Life is less than 2 miles from the attractions-packed Pigeon Forge Parkway, but when sitting on the shady porch savoring the mountain breeze rustling through the trees, you might easily forget that fact. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin is so restful and its setting in the leafy Alpine Mountain Village resort is so laid-back, you’ll feel far removed from the hustle and bustle. The main floor’s great room is a warm, welcoming space. Decorated in pale neutrals, it boasts numerous windows that let in plenty of sunshine, accentuating the airy, easy ambiance. There’s ample room on the leather sofa and settee for everyone to kick back and watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV. In addition to 90-plus channels, there’s a Blu-ray player so that you’re sure to find something everybody will enjoy. Or perhaps you’d rather play charades or Pictionary amid the golden glow of the stone-surround fireplace. The flickering flames show off the luminous wood-planked walls and beamed ceiling to perfection. In addition to the living area, High Life’s great room encompasses a dining area. Surrounding the table are 6 chairs so comfortably padded, you’ll want to linger long after the meal is over. There’s also a breakfast bar with 3 charming industrial-style stools. If you’re vacationing with the kids, you can serve them dinner here while the adults enjoy a more leisurely meal at the table. High Life’s kitchen is equipped with a full array of appliances large (refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, microwave) and small (blender, coffeemaker, toaster). Whether you’re mixing margaritas or hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll find all the accouterments you’ll need. The cabin has a grill on the deck too, should you prefer to cook alfresco. Also on the main floor is the primary bedroom. Prop yourself up against the pillows of the king-size bed and watch TV, surf the web via the free WiFi, read, or let the whip-poor-wills and owls in the woods serenade you to sleep. You’ll wake in the morning recharged and rarin’ to go. Another 2 people can sleep in the great room: The sofa opens into a bed for 2. The 2nd bedroom is upstairs. With a pair of queen-size beds along with a TV, it can sleep as many as 4 people. The kids will love making this their room—in part because it’s right next to the huge game room. Featuring a pool table, a 60-game arcade, an air-hockey table, and an oversize flat-screen TV, this room is tailor-made for rainy days… or any other days, for that matter. The game room’s leather couches make this a fabulous space for unwinding even if you’re not in the mood for a game. Each of High Life’s 2 floors has its own full bathroom with a combination shower/tub and generous storage. The cabin has its own washer and dryer too, so feel free to pack light. When you stay here in the summer, you’ll be able to cool off in one of the two Alpine Mountain Village’s outdoor pools. The beautifully maintained resort offers walking trails, streams, and a waterfall too, plus a play area for little ones and a pavilion for dining outdoors. As lovely as the grounds are, however, you’ll also want to explore beyond the resort. Not that you have to travel far: In less than 15 minutes you can drive to Dollywood, Parrot Mountain and Gardens, the Titanic Museum, and numerous dinner theaters, among other attractions. Within a half-hour drive are the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, and Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area, to name just a few sites. High Life makes it easy for you to do it all—or to do nothing at all but hang out with family and friends in a lovely, comfortable setting.
