Fig Tree House
Description
Set in ten acres of open fields, Fig Tree House boasts stunning panoramic views over some of the most beautiful scenery in Cornwall. Every room looks out over rolling countryside to the sea beyond. The ideal base to visit Falmouth and West Cornwall. The space Room 2 of 3 (Double) Moving to Cornwall we discovered Fig Tree House (formerly Mentone Farm) and instantly saw its potential as a perfect holiday escape for those seeking peace, quiet and an ideal touring base for much of the County. After a long history as a working farm it ceased to be so in the 1980’s. We have continued the renovation work of recent years by totally updating and extending the main farmhouse and started to landscape and redesign the gardens for which we have ambitious future plans. The main farmhouse sits in an enviable, elevated position. There is not a day that goes by when we do not stand, look at the views, and marvel at our good fortune! Outside a large terrace now tempts a visitor to sit and while away endless hours. A gentle stroll around the field margins continues to inspire, and allow the mind to unwind as new viewpoints reveal yet more enticing vistas. We share all of this with the local wildlife; swallows treat the barns as their home; buzzards soar effortlessly above; whilst on those special evenings, a barn owl combs the hedgerows. Rabbits and badgers live happily in our Cornish stone hedges. For those of us with a passion for nature then there is so much to take in. Spring is a particularly vibrant time of year when the wild flowers reach their peak. Our fields lead into the local network of public footpaths and rights of way where the more energetic will discover yet more of Cornwall’s inner beauty. There are 3 bedrooms (1 twin and 2 doubles) each with new ensuite bathrooms and extensive views. In addition to their bedroom, guests have access to a comfortable lounge with wood burner and TV and the Orangery where breakfast is served. The Orangery also has a comfortable sofa and woodburner perfect for relaxing after breakfast and planning your day or just as welcoming after a day full of discovery in this beautiful part of Cornwall. We are available to give advice, if you want it, on where to go, which beaches are best on any particular weather day, where to eat, where to walk and to shop. There is perhaps no better location to explore the areas around Falmouth and the Helford passage. Further afield the rugged North coast is just 25 minutes away. In fact all of Cornwall from Lands End, to the border with Devon, can be reached inside I hour giving the visitor the opportunity to experience all that Cornwall has to offer. We are very happy to offer an informal car shuttle service for our guests whenever there is time and the need. This can include pick ups from stations, airport or after an evening meal. There is no charge for this service we simply ask for a donation to the RNLI if you wish. There is plenty of parking for cars and storage for bikes.
