Our four season casita is nestled on 5 acres of wooded land near the top of the canyon. Enjoy beautiful sunset views overlooking the Cowboy, Jemez and Sangre de Christo mountain ranges from your private deck. A stargazers delight, evenings are celebrated as you bask in the quiet of the night. The closest hiking trails are a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the casita. We are located immediately off the Original Old Rt 66 with numerous distinct climates within a twenty minute drive. We are located near the top of the canyon which gives Canoncito its name, with barely a neighbor within sight. The guesthouse offers the best views on the property with all four seasons providing their unique sights and delights. The casita is tastefully decorated and suits romantics and iconoclasts alike. Fall in love (again), write a novel, or finish that work project in silence, our getaway lends itself equally to all that visit. The casita is equipped with its own dedicated WiFi service. The casita is nestled on 5 acres of county land just outside of town. Our property and the casita have access to our private well. The well water is safe for drinking, bathing and cooking. We prefer to drink bottled water and provide our guests with the first two gallons of bottled drinking water. Easily accessed from I25 or 285 and less than a twenty minute traffic free drive to The Plaza, there is a one-tenth of a mile dirt private dirt road leading to our paved driveway. During inclement weather such as heavy snowfall a Jeep or four wheel-type vehicle is highly recommended. There is plenty of private parking for your ATV's, snowmobiles, etc. Detailed directions will be given at the time of your booking. Airport pickup may be available for an extra charge based on availability. As we live on the property we welcome any questions and will gladly give suggestions on local attractions. If our guests are interested in the "get away from it all" feeling we wIll do our best to facilitate that, and we like meeting new people from around the globe as well. Our goal is to provide the best vacation experience we can and share the natural beauty which surrounds us. If there are any questions or requests not covered here, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you. Our area is sparsely populated with no artificial lighting at night and hardly any vehicular traffic. We are two miles from the interstate and while occasionally there is traffic noise during the day it is minimal, and the nights are silent. A great place for stargazing, comets and the Milky Way can be seen with the naked eye. The Santa Fe area boasts some of the cleanest air in all 50 states, and summer humidity rarely rises above 15%, assuring it is always comfortable in the shade. While our casita is only accessible by motorized vehicle, hikers, mountain and road bicyclists can enjoy the area without ever going into town if they so choose. The roads are well-kept and a one-tenth of one mile dirt road leads to our driveway. There are numerous off-road opportunities and a four wheel drive vehicle is highly encouraged in the winter when it snows. Snowfall was minimal this past winter and usually melts from paved roads within 24 hours. There is fly fishing nearby at either the Pecos or Rio Grande rivers. Ski Santa Fe is less than 45 minutes gate to gate, and The Taos, Angel Fire, and Sandia resorts are all less than two hours away. We have immediate access to The Glorieta Mesa, and are minutes from other camping and off road activities as well. The historic Civil War Battle of Glorieta took place in and around our canyon and the national markers are less than fifteen minutes away, located on Route 66. We love our guests arriving on two wheels and can provide covered parking during inclement weather, based on availability. We know of the best nearby roads and traverse them regularly. Cafe Fina, a nearby diner loved by locals is a seven minute drive and has a great breakfast and lunch menu with vegetarian options. We request your canine companions are leashed on the property in order to alleviate stress on our dogs. Additionally we ask that guests refrain from motorized activities and mountain biking on our property as conservation and erosion issues are present in the area. We will not tolerate illegal drugs or the "open carry" of firearms on the property. And finally, while we choose not to drink, enjoying a cocktail in moderation will never be a problem.
