Visits from wildlife, a power outage after a dramatic storm, drives on gorgeous country roads, and embracing rural forest life are all part of the soul of the experience. The house itself is wonderful for families or a small group of friends. It's a beautifully social place with many unique spaces for reading a book and focusing inward, or being together and laughing, as well as many areas to be in varying degrees of inside and outside. We have aimed to create a space that is both comfortable and energizing, with splashes of color and interest next to the comfortable warmth of the natural wood. If what you're after is a 5 star hotel, this won't be for you, as it's still a rustic/elegant home stay, but guests say they cherish that real home feel. Gas BBQ on decks and outdoor dining table and chairs. Dumbbells, weight bench and medicine balls in basement if you're feeling like exercising. Use at your own risk. The house is 7 minutes from a convenience store and gas station called Tetta's that can handle many needs. It's about 25-35 minutes from everything else - the Minnewaska State Park Preserve where you can swim, hike and mountain bike, Stone Ridge, Woodstock and Phoenicia are also close by. Most guests end up staying here and enjoying all the different spaces available at the house. No in-person interaction with guest, caretaker available as required. Fully stocked kitchen with a wide variety of pots, pans, knives, cooking supplies. Hot tub and lightly heated pool on the back deck, as well as an outdoor shower that’s tucked behind the decks. Now with super fast internet! Hot tubs are finicky beasts. While we aggressively maintain it, in the event that there’s a malfunction while you’re here that we’re unable to repair, we’ll refund $100 per night of the issue. AC in the 3 bedrooms and cool in the basement naturally - on hot days the upstairs can get warm, but there's tricks we can help you with to prevent it. Guest access Run of the place except for garage and a few storage closets. Other things to note Important notes! > WIFI -- The high speed WiFi is now a brisk 200mbps! > TV -- There's an Apple TV set up, or you can connect via our HDMI/USBC adapter to a laptop. > CAMERAS -- There are cameras outside which allow us to monitor guest numbers. Please do not exceed the the numbers in your booking. > CELL SERVICE -- AT&T is the only viable cell phone service at this location, otherwise it's extremely spotty - use the wifi for calling. > AC -- There are AC window units in the 3 main bedrooms, den and kitchen, and the basement stays cool. To keep the living room and kitchen cool, shut the curtains between the sun room and the kitchen during the heat of the day. > POOL HEAT -- The pool is lightly heated by a heat pump, so the warmer it is outside the warmer it will be in the pool - up to 75 degrees. If the weather is chilly at night (which happens because we're up on a mountain) then the pool temp will drop as well, and it will take time to get back up during the day. > HOT TUB -- Hot tubs are finicky beasts- even brand new ones! While we aggressively maintain it and will work to fix issues very quickly, > POWER -- Being a remote house, the power goes out from time to time, but usually turns back on in a couple of hours, and we have a generator that handles the central spaces! > GYM -- Weight bench, bar, dumbbells, medicine balls in gym in the basement, use at your own risk. > PETS -- No pets - we love animals, but the house is full of white carpet, so it's just not a fit for furry friends. Bringing a pet leads to a 500 dollar charge, on top of any cleaning fees added.
