A newly renovated pedestrian bridge is .25 mile away. This bridge leads to the bike trail to the entrance of the Smoky Mountain National Park. There's a number of other activities available for tourist in Townsend .. Fishing, hiking, tubing down the Little River, biking , kayaking ,Wild Laurel Golf course is 3 miles away, and horse back riding stables . Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is a 20 minute drive away and offers family friendly thrills at Dollywood and Splash Country . Tanger Outlet Mall has shopping for all ages. Maryville is nearby and offers a nice change of pace with it's small city atmosphere .The town has less traffic and offers several shops , restaurants for you to explore. Of course let's not forget the charming town of Townsend with natural beauty that surrounds with the gateway to Cades Cove in the National Park. The Little River Cottage is one of the few family cottages that is available to rent in this little area named the" Sunshine Community" in Townsend. Most of the other surrounding cottages have been in families for several generations. Before air conditioning , to escape the heat these families would ride the train from Maryville or Knoxville to spend the summer. Even though now we have air conditioning , these same family cottages are a retreat from busyness of life, bring families together again. The Old Walland highway connects to our street Walnut Loop Road. This is a famous bike ride for a more serious cyclist . Also our property is beside the Historical Blount County Swinging Bridge . Bike trails and running trails are throughout the town of Townsend . The newly opened FootHills Parkway is a 15 mile wonderful scenic drive for the family. This Parkway overlooks Walland, Townsend, and Wears Valley. Also, don't forget the easy 15 -20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge through Wears Valley. You can stream movies on your mobile devices while sitting on the river bank . We also have an Amazon echo dot for guest .
