Set in the Northwoods small-town of Iron River. *15 mins to Lake Superior *50 mins to Bayfield *50 mins to Duluth Spend time hiking, boating, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, bicycling, swimming and more. Iron River/Bayfield county is famous for its ATV/UTV and Snowmobile trails. Located at the heart of the trail system, with easy access to the corridor, and a large parking area for trucks and trailers. Walking distance from most shops, restaurants and the local brewery and winery. The space Being located in the downtown area has its benefits! Easy access to the local shops, taverns and restaurants. Order in or pick up at your leisure. Walk a few blocks or drive to the Moon Lake park and swimming beach just down the road from the house. *Free and on-site* 6 Kayaks available for guest use. 4 adult, 2 youth (or small adult) Paddles and Life jackets(various sizes) included. 4 kayak dollies available for nearby lakes access. Any other use of the kayaks on lakes or rivers, by means of YOUR OWN vehicle or trailer. *WE DO NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION OF KAYAKS TO ANY LOCATION* *USE OF THE KAYAKS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LAKE SUPERIOR CAVE TOURS!!** The Kayaks provided are 2-3 feet shorter in length than commonly used for Lake Superior. They are designed for inland lakes. If using on a river, PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE highly recommended. Slate House has a large parking area to accommodate ATV, UTV, cars, trucks and trailers. Deck/patio out back for grilling and just kick’n back. The attached heated garage has a utility sink and laundry area adjacent to the main bathroom/shower, making it very convenient when returning from the trails, muddy and dusty. The beds in each room have comfortable mattresses, bedding, extra blankets and pillows. The bunks have been securely bolted/fastened to the walls with easy access stairs instead of ladders. Guest access Guest access to the entire house, garage, parking lot, driveway, back deck/patio. **GUEST USE OF GARAGE FOR STORAGE OF GEAR OR SMALL PERSONAL ITEMS ONLY. NO VEHICLES, TRAILERS, BOATS OR RECREATIONAL VEHICLES ALLOWED IN GARAGE AT ANY TIME** **GARAGE OVERHEAD DOOR LOCKED AND UNAVAILABLE DURING WINTER MONTHS. DEC. 1 - APRIL 30** Other things to note Trails End Lodging has a second residence next door to Slate House. This is also an Airbnb called Driftwood. Driftwood has its own private parking lot, driveway and deck area. It is separate and privately located. Driftwood driveway, deck and fire pit area are behind the house with a separate backyard not exposed to the Slate House guests. NO shared areas or interaction required between guests. * Beds are ONLY made up according to how many guests are listed on the reservation. PLEASE let us know at least a week in advance which beds you would like to use during your stay. If we do not receive notification from you, we will choose which beds to set up with linens, for you. *House Manual is provided on the premises when you arrive. PLEASE take time to read through this information. Most all questions pertaining to the house and the premises are answered in the book, as well as the operation of appliances.
