Description

This is a private guest suite attached to our home (not a detached unit), with its own separate entrance and patio. Exclusive guest suite in striking new modern home tucked into the forested ridgelines of the Tualatin Mountains north of Portland. Floor to ceiling windows frame private views of the natural forest landscape, and offer plenty of natural light. Private guest entry, covered patio with fire-pit. It's just a short walk to our Farm property and vineyard valley views. The space Our guest suite is a private 245 square foot , one-bedroom space with mini-fridge and (complimentary) Keurig coffee / tea counter, café table / chairs, and private bath with walk-in glass shower. Relax in the queen size bed and enjoy views out the floor-to-ceiling windows across the private, enclosed / covered patio and into the forested landscape just beyond. Guest parking is immediately adjacent to the patio / entry with a private outdoor sauna at the opposite end of the patio. Enjoy cool NW evenings on the patio by the fire-pit while taking in the fresh forest air and sounds of nature. Guests are welcome to walk the private, gravel access road across both properties. This allows for about ¾ mile of hilly hiking down on either side of our ridgetop in the Tualatin Mountains. There are fantastic views of Skyline Ridge and the McCarthy Creek Valley to be enjoyed from up above the vineyard and in the orchard area only a 550 foot easy walk from the Retreat through the gate to the Farmstead. There's a shady gazebo with table & chairs or you can enjoy the sunny picnic table near the greenhouse. Feel free to use the deer-fence gate between farm and forest lands - but please leave it open or closed as you found it (it helps keep deer out of the orchard). Near the gate are forest trails to the right and left - each of which has a hammock that you can relax in beneath the trees. Our location offers easy access to NW Portland, the adjacent tech centers in Hillsboro / Beaverton and access to highways to Tillamook, Seaside and Astoria on the Oregon coast. This transport convenience has a downside... We are off a fairly busy road connecting three counties, and there can be some muffled traffic noise in the distance. There is also a railway spur across the valley that is in infrequent use. Thankfully there are no crossings requiring train horns / whistles, but the rumbling of the rail cars (mostly loaded with fir logs) can be audible. We have a small Rat Terrier “Piper” and Poodle “Brinkley” who may bark at folks they don't know, but are friendly dogs. There is a honeybee apiary located on the forest property between the house and the gate to the farm. The hives are about 150 feet from the house, but there are honeybees visiting just about anything that blooms here during warmer times. Guest access Guests are free to visit the farm and forest properties. There may be other guests staying in the farmhouse during your stay. We don’t offer access to the main house.
