Description
Little Bear Studio/Den is part of a house located at Little Bear Farm, an 8 acre private property with a large yard and field for romping with a dog, sledding, or walking around our pond and fields. Conveniently located near Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, we are close to shopping or the slopes. We are adjacent to 450 acres of forest that is part of the Blue Ridge Conservancy, offering hiking trails to the public. WE HAVE RECENTLY MADE SOME POSITIVE UPGRADES NOT REFLECTED IN PHOTOS OR DESCRIPTION. The space Little Bear Studio/Den occupies one end of a brick ranch style house which it shares with Little Bear House. The Den is one large room with a Queen Murphy Bed, full attached bathroom, a Kitchenette, gas insert fireplace, and private deck/patio w/furniture. It is a roomy, airy space with a great view out of a picture window. If you are looking for a place to listen to peep frogs or crickets, stargaze, or hike with your dog this is the place for you! Our quiet setting brings lots of nature with all the comfort of home. Whether it is visiting our little pond or walking your dog in the field, its all right there. Our farm land is adjacent to forest owned by the Valle Crucis Conference Center. This land is part of the Blue Ridge Conservancy which offers hiking trails open to the public. If you are interested in hiking, just let us know and we will fill you in on how to access trails and adventures Guest access Guests have private access to the den and deck. They share access to the remainder of the yard, garden, drive, and field. This property is pet friendly so expect to share the lawn with other people's pets who are required to be leashed and supervised. Little Bear Studio/Den’s guests and their pets are not allowed into other parts of the house, attic, basement, or onto decks or porches not connected to the den. Other things to note We are adjacent to a large tract of land owned by the Valle Crucis Conference Center that is part of the Blue Ridge Conservancy. As such this land is available to our guests for hiking or just to enjoy the glory of nature. This property is accessible in the back of our field simply by stepping over the fence into the tree line. There are numerous hiking paths, rock cliffs, old ruins further down the hill, and access to Crab Orchard Falls. If you hike long enough you can eventually even reach the Conference Center in Valle Crucis. Rules are the same as for a national park, leave it as you found it. We do encourage our guests to tell someone if they elect to hike here as this is a large tract of land and it is possible to get lost. We want everyone to be safe. If you are visiting alone we are happy to look out for you. Just let us know when you leave and when you plan to return. We offer a fire pit in the yard. If you want to build a fire, you can buy wood at most of the stores in Banner Elk. - We have a firm pet policy. Our fee is normally $100 but we waive it for our AirBNB guests. In the event that guests fail to observe our pet policy (see House Rules below) we will assess the full $100 fee and bill for any additional damage or fees. Additional details are available in our HOUSE MANUAL and house rules. We offer a word of CAUTION. We encourage direct visual supervision of animals and children when outside. Coyotes can pose minimal risks to small dogs and occasionally they cross our property. There has never been an incident here but it exists as a possibility. Don’t let your dog chase deer. Sometimes they can have babies and be VERY protective. Our small pond ices in the winter. Allowing your dog to walk on the ice could result in them breaking through and a possible drowning issue. Rominger Road is sometimes busy and the traffic doesn’t anticipate dogs or children in the road. This road has claimed a number of deer, dogs, and there have been incidents involving children.
