Nestled in the community gardens of Nomad’s Land is an earthen hobbit house, with a living roof and a bottle wall that lets in glorious colored sunlight. Our hobbit house is constructed from raw wood beams taken from local woods and non-traditional building styles. Snuggle into the queen size canopy bed and enjoy a retreat into the Shire. Brew a fresh cup of coffee and enjoy the morning bird song, chicken a in the nearby garden and sounds of nature. Welcome to the Hobbit House at Nomads Land! While staying at the hobbit house, we hope you feel the world apart. Hopefully like you are in Middle Earth. We have little touches of the shire throughout the habit house, from the Elvish canopy bed to the little kitchenette and seating area Plus a fold out ottoman, in case you bring any little hobbits with you. The house is set up with a proper oven/stove, cold water sink, microwave, mini fridge, mugs, dishes and silverware, a table and chairs, and coffee pot. There are multiple outlets, and places to charge your devices, as well as a few lighting options, including twinkle lights around the bed. The bathhouse is just steps from the Hobbit House with a hot shower, flush toilet, and sink. This bathroom is reserved for Hobbit House gas, and the occasional guests that rent our Volkswagen van the next site over. Please bring your own coffee and tea, as we do not provide this. We do provide comfy bedding and pillows, as well as fresh towels. Many folks just like to take it easy and dial down the activity for a true retreat, but there are a wide variety of options for those looking for something to do nearby that would be a safe, socially distant activity. From hiking Nocallula Falls, bouldering the world-class rocks at Horse Pens 40, or walking the riverwalk and fishing piers off the Coosa River in Gadsden. There are many outdoor activities we can point you towards. There are several delicious restaurants in nearby Gadsden that offer take-out, from Thai to Italian, to an Irish pub as well as Back Forty, our own local brewery. And there's a great little bakery that is open for takeout called Cothran’s Bakery with delicious doughnuts. Just so you know, cell signal can be spotty here at the land. T-mobile has the best signal. Other carriers work sometimes but not consistently. The WiFi is often a bit slow but it should work ok from the Hobbit House. Be sure to check out our other beautifully unique listings here at Nomad’s Land! The Little Red Caboose Birdsong double-decker bus (Birdsong and Prayerstream are close and perfect for booking together for a larger group) Vintage Inspired Airstream (Prayerstream) The TreeLodge You have a lovely covered porch sitting area and a private bathroom steps away. Because of Covid-19 we want to be sure to keep you safe, so the common spaces and the rest of the property is not open to guests at this time. The Hobbit House is located in the middle of our community, so you will see people walking by going about their day, and we ask that everyone please respect social distancing boundaries and that guests please stay within your unit’s spaces. This is very unusual for us and we are so grateful for your cooperation to help keep everyone safe. We look forward to when we can open it back up! We offer self check in, and limited face-to-face interaction, but we definitely want to be available to answer any questions or meet any needs that may arise. Just send us a message! We have co-hosts on site, and love to make friends! We love the feel of being tucked into an old time hollow in the South. You feel like you have really gotten away into the woods and have space to breathe. We have an excellent view of the night sky! Don’t be surprised to hear hunting dogs barking in the distance, someone doing target practice, or hey, was that a coyote howling at the moon? We also appreciate being just a few minutes from civilization, shopping and a Starbucks coffee shop! Best of both worlds. You should have your own transportation to really get anywhere. The public bus transportation is a very small system. Nomad's Land is a Christ-centered community and retreat. We happily host travelers and wanderers seasonally, in the fall and spring and in a quieter and simpler capacity in the summer. We especially focus our lives on Rainbow Gatherings and the traveling counter-culture. You might run into some tattoos, dreadlocks, hugs and backpacks when visiting our place. Shared space needs to remain family friendly, with respect to others space and personal property. You can expect that kind of respect from us as well! -Illegal DRUGS *including marijuana* will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to ask you to leave without refund upon any indication of possession or use on our property. Thank you for keeping this a safe space. -Alcohol is not permitted in community spaces. - Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Please dispose of all butts in the trash. Thank you!
