Cabin in La Patrie
Description
Return to nature with ease (in the middle of the forest, no water or electricity available). Drinking water, shower, Wi-Fi are less than 2 km away, at the reception of Mont-Mégantic National Park (Chemin de Franceville entrance). The Scots swamp with its countless meanders, the many trails of the Park through the Astrolab, the proximity of bodies of water including rivers and Lac Mégantic make it possible to diversify the activities to do on site. The space This refuge, on a plot of more than 4,000 m2 and built in the middle of the forest about 80 years ago, saw its renovation completed in spring 2018. Clear nights allow you to observe the sky as few places offer; the Observatory/Astrolab of Mont-Mégantic was established there for this particular reason. The Parc du Mont-Mégantic has many walking trails; the one going to the Observatory can be done, for example, in less than 6 hours from the Chemin de Franceville access, and the descent can be done completely by running! The Rivière à la Loutre (called the Marécage des Scots), located at the lowest point of the mountain, offers the possibility of 5-6 hours of canoeing/kayaking round trip, plus the time of breaks throughout the course. It is accessible from the Bridge landing, 2 km from the chalet by road. In addition to the Scots swamp, the Salmon River dam in Scotstown or Lac Mégantic, towards Piopolis about 30 min. by car, are other nearby water points. There is also of course the Mountain Creek that runs along the entire Park from the top of the mountain to the Salmon River. There are 2 single beds (bunk beds) on site and a double futon that can accommodate 4 people. Everyone is asked to bring their own sleeping bag. Finally, there is a toilet room outside, behind the chalet (outhouse => back house). You can also use the toilets at the park reception 2 km away, where there is hot and cold water as well as a shower. Registration Details Quebec - Registration number 314447, expires: 2026-07-09
