Cute Afton cottage on 5 wooded acres, surrounded by bluffs, short walk to the village and 5 miles from Afton State Park The space This country cabin was built in 1904 and is one of Afton's original homes. It is nestled in the trees, facing the bluffs, and along a small spring-fed creek. This house is loaded with charm....park your car and cross a small footbridge to reach the cabin with wood floors, small rooms but ample space for relaxing and entertaining. Nice woodsy yard with a fire pit for your enjoyment. We are only a few hundred yards from the old town of Afton and 3 miles from the Afton Alps ski area, Alton State Park, and within 1/2 mile of town beach and marinas. Enjoy fire pit in the yard; cook in the kitchen... it's yours while you're here. If you are coming in the spring or summer, bring your bathing suit, kayaks, mountain bikes. Winter? Bring cross country skis, snowboards, downhill skis, or just your walking shoes 'cause there's a lot of natural beauty around. Afton also has a great wine bar and some nice small restaurants, ice cream shop and shopping. Don't get TOO excited about all of this, because it's about the smallest, cutest town you might see but it won't take long to see it all! . The home has a big, romantic masterbed room down stairs, with a woodburning stove, queen-sized bed, and warm, pine-panelled walls. There are also three upstairs "attic" bedrooms with sloping roofs, windows that look onto the woods and bluffs. The biggest has a double bed with a down comforter, a book case. A second bedroom has a twin poster bed and a sea-grass mat . There are board games in the living room. We have WiFi, TV, and basic Cable. The phone signal is patchy, though if you have Verizon, that seems to work well. As it is now, it's quiet, peaceful, old-fashioned and you kind of have to make your own fun and enjoy the surroundings and the company of those around you. There's a stand-alone tub.... with a simple, makeshift shower. Also, there is only a mini-fridge, and a second 11-cubic meter fridge. New Samsumg stackable washer and dryer. This is a real country cabin surrounded by nature. Though it will be professionally cleaned, nature tends to have its way. There may be a few dust balls, a grasshopper in the sink, maybe even a mouse when it gets cold outside. If you are looking for the experience of a five-star hotel, this probably isn't for you.
