Idyllic Cottage-Pool, Outdoor Fire, Full Kitchen
Description
All the charm of great-grandma's country home only 5 mins off the freeway! Make lifetime memories in any season. Summer months around the private pool. Warm up from deep Winter with fresh baking in the fully stocked kitchen. The front yard orchard provides blossoms in the Spring, cherries in the Summer, and apples in the Fall. Friends are encouraged to join you instead of severely restricted. See why guests say, "This is the Airbnb that other Airbnbs want to be when they grow up." The space The Cottage at the Orchard is made for visiting! I do encourage you to invite friends BUT a few items to remember: VISITORS? YES - WITHIN REASON: The Orchard readily encourages 4-6 additional visitors on any given day during your stay but if having more, please notify host/co-hosts. Permissions for more guests and/or small private events must be arranged separately. Generally, more than 8 additional guests requires a fee. IM host via AirBnB for information. POOL: If you desire a private time around the pool for a portion of your stay, let us know that, too! We wouldn't want to ruin it accidently! My family/cohosts do share the pool, gazebo & yards with you. We may have friends visiting during your stay. Just as we ask our Guests to let us know when they have Visitors, we will let guests know. COTTAGE Details: All rooms connect AND each room has its own entrance! Great for some independence without disturbing your housemates. Early risers will enjoy the sunrise in the orchard. Stay up for late-night summer swim or to check the winter starscape. Roku enabled Smart TV allows Guest Login to your own accounts, the TV will automatically log out all of them after the end of your stay. The large desk is available for those who still have to work. Business speed internet wifi/ethernet is part of your stay with good bandwidth across most of the property (attend that video meeting from poolside!) An extra monitor and keyboard for remote office work is available. Fully stocked kitchen! Gas stovetop, full-size oven, microwave, and dishwasher. All the pots & pans you need, blender, serving bowls, etc. Need something more like a crockpot? Ask your host, she probably has one you can borrow! The table has a self-storing leaf to expand from 4 to 6 person. Refrigerator has filtered water/ice dispenser, although Spokane Valley water is very good straight from the tap. Coffee/Tea making supplies: grinder, standard 12cup drip and a french press. Pour over supplies can be borrowed from Host. Tea snifters for loose leaf, a classic tea pot with cozy, and an electric hot water kettle round out the supplies. We have fantastic local tea & coffee sources, ask us anything! Guest access You will love anytime of the year here and go home refreshed! The ORCHARD: It really is an orchard! And yes, you are welcome to pick whatever is in season! 20+ apple trees (4 types) bloom around mid-May and have visible fruit by beginning of July, then ripen after the first good frost in mid-Sept or early October. There are 2 large cherry trees that bloom end of April/early May with cherry crop generally ripe the last week of June & first week of July. POOL, FIREPLACE, GAZEBO - the centerpiece of your stay : The fenced 20' x 40' heated SALT WATER pool sits beside the large gazebo & outdoor fireplace. Depending on the weather, the pool is typically open just after Mother's day thru end of September. Fireplace & gazebo are usable all months of the year except during burning bans due to high particulate counts. The POOL RULES: Generally 8am thru Midnight but can arrange flexible times. Residential Noise restrictions are in place 10pm-8am but we have found low-level music & chatter is generally okay through Midnight without issues. I am very friendly with neighbors and simply ask respect for this quiet neighborhood. Standard child-safe fence & gates are in place with additional safety cover over the pool itself. PUTTING GREEN: This 20' x 40' foot is on the west side of the property. Shaded by two giant pine trees and a huge Ginko tree with exotic fan shaped leaves, it is bookended by a group of pine trees (great for chipping practice) and tall Cedar trees shading the Big House deck. Cigar & whiskey over golf have been known to happen here. Right & left handed putters are available, and one child sized! It is beginning to show it's age with some roots coming up, but it remains a favorite memory for many. CHILDS PLAY! Kids love to play in the old dog-house made to match the house (slivers are a risk!). This is the best place for night-time hide and seek (such a rare memory for kids anymore!) The big house has a large, smooth driveway fantastic for learning to ride a bike or for sidewalk chalk. The deck in the front yard is great for your mini-talent show or watching evening shadows cast through the giant Japanese maple and Ginko Biloba trees. HOLIDAY STAY? We keep the Spirit Alive: Staying over Christmas? The Cottage will be dressed for the holidays. Halloween is reserved for the neighborhood trick-or-treat rounds. Other things to note There are two cats that live in the Big House but have run of the property (Check out the private cat door balcony!) They will likely come in the cottage if you invite them but are kept out otherwise for those with allergies. Calico cat (often visits guests if on patio in evening): Etta James Fluffy with Siamese coloring cat (only rare visitor sightings): Monkey We occasionally babysit the Grand-Dog, Wrigley, who loves visitors because they throw the BALL! Ball! Ball! (German Shepherd/Golden mix dog): Wrigley
