Preserved Old City Hall is a historic city landmark with a lot of old stories to tell. Eber Culver, one of Williamsport’s foremost architects, designed the five-story building of yellow brick trimmed in stone with molded brick ornamentation and terra cotta columns. Built in 1893, it features two towers: a large rectangular tower and a smaller octagonal tower, both of which have been incorporated into the hotel’s unique design. The overnight rise of a rich young city was the result, and Williamsport became “The Lumber Capital of the World.” Saw mills sprang up along the Susquehanna River as early as the late 1830’s, eventually resulting in more millionaires per capita here than in any other U.S. city. Room 309 celebrates our thriving lumber industry during late 19th century. This room features a sleeper sofa to accomodate up to two additional guests and a kitchenette.
