A unique log cottage nestled in the forest just off the Gunflint Trail and only 5 miles north of the village of Grand Marais awaits you. Enjoy a serene woodland environment with beautiful flowers, mature apple and pine trees, on five acres of private land. Modern appliances, cozy atmosphere, and comfortable furnishings make for a perfect combination of rustic and convenient. The cottage is a remodeled hewn log historic structure. It was a farmstead established by homesteaders in the late 1800's and is among one of the oldest in Cook County. The house has an authentic rustic appeal, but has all of the modern conveniences. Close to town and the Gunflint Trail, it is convenient for both reasons, yet is surrounded by a pine forest with a huge open yard, so it feels very private and offers a complete experience of woods time. There are miles of intersecting dirt roads for runners, bikers, and long walks with a golf course one mile away. Points of access to the Lake Superior Hiking Trail are within a five mile radius. Guests have full access to the property and can enjoy an expansive yard and private forest on five acres. I live about ten miles from the property, but am on hand throughout the length of your stay to provide whatever you might need help with while you are staying.
