Description

The Hummingbird Haven is a beautifully restored Mid-Century Modern desert retreat with a private pool, always-heated spa, and breathtaking desert and mountain views. Nestled at the foot of Indian Head Mountain with direct access to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and its magnificent hiking trails, guests come here to relax, stargaze, and enjoy peaceful desert living — all just two hours from both San Diego and Los Angeles. The space 🌵 The Hummingbird Haven — A Desert Sanctuary with Pool, Spa & Mountain Views Tucked into one of the most peaceful pockets of Borrego Springs, The Hummingbird Haven sits at the foot of Indian Head Mountain, where the desert opens wide and time slows down. After years of searching for the right vintage home on this very block in the De Anza Country Club, we finally found it — and lovingly brought it back to life. ⸻ A Place Designed for Restoration ✨ This home was renovated with intention. We filled it with antiques, art, and objects gathered from our travels around the world, many of them spiritual in nature — pieces that reflect different cultures and a shared sense of reverence for beauty, quiet, and connection. Hummingbirds frequent the property daily, drawn to the mature desert plants and native landscaping. In many cultures — including Native American traditions — hummingbirds are symbols of healing, joy, love, and good fortune. That spirit lives here. ⸻ Space to Gather — and to Breathe The home is spacious and light-filled, offering: • Two large bedrooms, each with a Cal King bed, brand-new luxury mattresses, high-end bedding, and a private bath • A living room with a beautiful fireplace • A formal dining room • A retro kitchen with all new appliances • A huge glass-enclosed family room with sweeping desert and mountain views For additional guests, the family room includes a luxury leather reclining chair and a queen sofa sleeper with an upgraded gel mattress. ⸻ Indoor–Outdoor Desert Living 🌙 Step outside and enjoy the magic of the desert day and night: • Private pool for cooling off on warm days • Hot Springs spa with water-jet back massage — perfect under the stars • Propane Weber grill for outdoor cooking • Indoor/outdoor Bluetooth sound system • A curated collection of vintage records, books, and cozy reading spaces For guests who like to stay active, the home also includes access to a full gym. ⸻ Location: Secluded Yet Close This quiet enclave feels worlds away — yet you’re only five minutes from downtown Borrego Springs, where you’ll find excellent restaurants, cafés, and art galleries. Just beyond lies Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the second-largest state park in California, offering unforgettable hiking, wildflower seasons, and vast open landscapes. ⸻ Amenities & Comforts Brand-new appliances and features include: • Refrigerator • Washer & dryer • Dishwasher • Stove/oven • Microwave • Countertop toaster oven • Ice maker • Espresso maker • Snow-cone maker (fun for kids — or margaritas 😉) • Large wall-mounted TV in the family room • Wall-mounted TV in the primary bedroom • High-speed Wi-Fi • Alexa ⸻ Pool Heater Note 🔥 We’re happy to heat the pool upon request. Due to the high cost of propane, pool heating is available for an additional $135 per day. Just let us know in advance and we’ll take care of everything. ⸻ Come rest, recharge, and experience the desert the way it’s meant to be felt — quietly, beautifully, and a little magically. ***Extended & Monthly Stays Welcome Hummingbird Haven is ideal for longer stays, with a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, reliable Wi-Fi, and a peaceful desert setting that makes it easy to truly settle in. Whether you’re working remotely, writing, hiking, or simply resting, this home invites you to slow down and feel at home. Monthly discounts are automatically applied. Guest access The entire house and yard. We do use the garage for house storage and workshop but there is ample parking in the large circular driveway. Other things to note **** important*** Airbnb policy states that hosts are not responsible to refund guests for any travel issues such as bad weather, guest illness, missed flights or any other travel issues. It is strongly recommended that guests purchase Airbnb’s guest travelers insurance. This must be done at the time of booking. Here is the link: https://www.airbnb.com/resources/hosting-homes/a/understanding-travel-insurance-for-airbnb-guests-529 Other things guests should know: 1. Pool is normally kept unheated to save energy. Pool heating is available for an additional charge of $135 per day - just let us know and we will have the pool heated for your stay. 2. The pool is open and un-fenced. Please carefully take note that this may not be appropriate for children. Children must be carefully monitored. 3. Note that when desert winds blow the pool will get dirty. I have the best possible pool man, but the desert is the desert and sand will sometimes blow. Our pool man cleans the pool twice per week, every Tuesday and Thursday in the early morning. Occasionally the days may vary. 4. Also in the hottest season, wild desert bees will visit the pool to drink water. These are rare and endangered wild honey bees and we love them. They usually come early in the morning and are out by about 9:00 A.M., but some may stay near the pool water spout. They are very mild bees, but recently a guest told me they had been stung. Please do not book out here in the hot months if you have bee allergies! There is nothing anyone can do to stop them from coming off the desert for water in the hottest season. Sorry! 5. We have regular pest control, but again, occasionally a bug will get in the house. 6. We are set right on the border of the largest State park In California. This is a gift of peace and desert beauty. We have a wildlife trail right beyond our wall and glimpse many wild animals. I have seen Desert Big Horn Sheep, coyotes, fox, and lynx outside the garden wall! We love this feature and the chance to see these beautiful wild animals, but please do not bother them and give them their space. Also please take note that this may not be appropriate for children. Children must be carefully monitored.
