Welcome to “The Mermaid” at Highland Lake!!! Modern 2-bedroom 1 bath private suite with kitchenette (see amenities) in the foothills of the Berkshires! Views of Highland Lake from your private deck. Moon or star gazing by night. We follow all Airbnb policies & State of CT cleaning guidelines. Please do not trespass on the property of private residences, across the street on the lake side. These are private residences. There are public beaches public access areas for your enjoyment. The space Private entrance top floor two (2) bedroom & 1 bathroom suite with one Queen bed, one full bed, and deck. (See pictures). Each bedroom has a new separate zoned split air/ heat unit. Self-check-in using key in door. CHILDREN FRIENDLY: Children are welcome. Let us know of any special requirements e.g., baby highchair, bassinet. ACCESS TO TWO TOWN LAKE BEACHES: Included with your suite is a parking pass for two beaches Resha Beach 1/2 mile away & Holland Beach 1 mile away. Or walk if you prefer! Ample beach towels included in the suite. KITCHENETTE: A medium sized refrigerator/freezer, with ice cubes, microwave, Krups coffee maker, drip coffee maker, and toaster, travel iron. Coffee & coffee creamer, tea, equate sugar, tea kettle, cooking utensils, potholders, knifes, scissors, salt/pepper, paper towels, cups, bowls, napkins, paper plates, plastic ware, mixing bowls, cutting board, trash bags, recycle/trash cans. Wine & beer openers. Dining table and chairs on deck and in suite. We have numerous fine restaurants in Winsted that we can recommend. After all - you are on a vacation!!!! BEDROOMS: There are two (2) newly renovated bedrooms with designer bedding, linen and Mermaid/Artist decor. First bedroom has a memory foam queen bed; a 50” Flatscreen TV, dining table two chair, ample closet, oversized bureau, club chair. Sliding patio door to deck. Second bedroom: new full memory foam bed pillows, ample closet, large bureau, 40" flatscreen TV, modern desk. Extra pillows, blankets, bed linens, beach towels. BATHROOM: A recently updated full private bathroom with tub and shower, rain shower head and ample towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. Extra towels, toilet paper, paper towels, & first aid kit. PRIVATE CHALET DECK: 12' x 20' with dining table/chairs, umbrella, two benches, with cushions. Incredible sunsets from your private deck!!! Or star gaze!! STROLL GARDEN: Encircling the entire home is a professionally landscaped meditative Stroll Garden based on Japanese principles for your enjoyment.Feel free to go anywhere you like in the garden There are numerous benches and seating area for your enjoyment. Red maples, perennials, whimsical statues, specimen trees and shrubs. Six seating areas with designer cushions are placed along the garden path. Be alert for hummingbirds, songbirds and other wildlife. LAUNDRY: Ladybug laundromat is located 1 mile away - large and small washers and dryers. We live on main level of the home with the lower level an art studio of International Folk Artist Cheryl Bartley. Studio is available for creatives for additional fee. Tours upon request. No smoking anywhere on premises, no pets, no unpaid guests or friends, no loud noise, neighbors lake front is private please respect. There are many public water accessible areas and your stay includes beach parking pass to two beaches. Kindly remember to walk with small feet as we live on floor below. Guest access LOCATION: The Mermaid is located in the Highland Lake community above the city of Winchester/ Winsted. Guests have full private access to the top floor of the house and the entire serene stroll garden which encircles the property. ACCESS to SUITE: Follow the signage in driveway to path and entry door. The key will be in the door. PARKING: Large driveway parking space with space to store your gear. The parking area will be yours throughout your stay. NEIGHBORS: Please do not trespass on the property of private residences, across the street on the lake side. These are private residences. There are public beaches public access areas for your enjoyment. THINGS TO DO: This is a year-round vacation and recreation wonderland located at the foothills of the Berkshires. If you would like information about the area I will be happy to share. In your space are numerous travel guides and books about the surrounding area and CT. WINTER SPORTS: Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the lake or at state parks. Ice fishing once the lake is frozen. DOWNHILL SKING: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT., 30 MIN, Mohawk Mountain, CT., 40 MIN; In MA, Otis Ridge, 30 minutes and Butternut in Great Barrington, 40 minutes. ACCESS TO TWO TOWN LAKE BEACHES: Included with your suite is a parking pass for two beaches one 1/2 mile & 1 mile distant. AREA ACTIVITIES: Swimming, fishing, Kayak, canoe, jet ski, fishing boat and use the public boat launch minutes away. Your stay will include parking beach pass for both nearby town beaches: Resha and Holland. (Also available upon request, I can direct you to the hidden State Park Lake access) FINE DINING, ANTIQUE SHOPS, LOCAL MUSEUMS, LOCAL ART STUDIOS: Excellent restaurants and antique shopping. NUMEROUS HIKING TRAILS: State parks with hiking trails e.g. Tunxis Trail, Peoples Forest trails. A nearly 5.6-mile bike trail. Access to the Appalachian trail only 23 miles - to the West or North. Too many local hiking trails to count including scenic picnic areas. SEASONALWATER SPORTS: Float the Farmington River, fly fish or regular fishing (with license). Summer kayaking and swimming. NEARBY SCENIC NEW ENGLAND TOWNS: Litchfield, 20 minutes, Collinsville 30 MIN., Great Barrington 35 MIN, Millerton, NY 40 MIN, & Rivertown. Fifteen (15) minutes to trout fishing! Due to Airbnb liability rules, no one other than paid guests allowed in the Airbnb, that means no unpaid guests or friends allowed anywhere on premises property. No smoking anywhere on premises property. This is a recreational lake community, so there is some lake related noise in the summer - usually on the weekends and holidays. Please do not trespass on the property of private residences, across the street on the lake side. These are private residences. There are public beaches public access areas for your enjoyment. Our Airbnb is Non-Smoking in rooms and on premises property grounds. If smoking has occurred, there will be an additional fee for professional cleaning services as well as fees for unpaid guests or late departure not cleared by host. Upon Departure: Leave key in door Take out trash (located brown can by entry way outside) Place used linens and towels in the tub. Please remember to notify host when you leave at the end of your stay so we can prepare the space for the next guests. The Ladybug Laundry is located 1 mile away.
