ACCESS TO TWO TOWN LAKE BEACHES: Included with your suite is a parking pass for two beaches Resha Beach 1/2 mile away & Holland Beach 1 mile away. Or walk if you prefer! Ample beach towels included in the suite. KITCHENETTE: A medium size refrigerator freezer, ice cubes, two beer mugs, microwave, wine/ beer opener, Krups coffee maker, coffee/tea/coffee creamer, equate sugar, tea kettle, cooking utensils, potholders, knifes, scissors, salt/pepper, paper towels, cups, bowls, napkins, paper plates, plastic ware, mixing bowls, cutting board, small electric fry pan, trash bags, recycle/trash cans. Dining table and chairs on deck or in suite. We have numerous restaurants in Winsted that we can recommend. After all - you are on a vacation!!!! BEDROOMS: There are two (2) newly renovated bedrooms with designer bedding, linen and Mermaid/Artist decor. First bedroom has a memory foam queen bed; a 50” Flatscreen, dining table two chair, ample closets, oversized bureau, club chair. Sliding patio door to deck. Second bedroom: new full memory foam bed pillows, ample closet, large bureau, TV, modern desk. Extra pillows, blankets, bed linens, beach towels. BATHROOM: A recently updated full private bathroom with tub and shower with rain shower head and ample towels, shampoo and conditioner and soap. Extra towels, toilet paper, paper towels, first aid kit. DECK: 12' x 20' with dining table/chairs, umbrella, two benches, and cushions. Incredible sunsets from your private deck!!! Or star gaze!! STROLL GARDEN: Encircling the entire home is a professionally landscaped meditative Japanese stroll garden with perennials, whimsical statues, specimen trees and shrubs. Six seating areas with designer cushions are placed along the garden path. Be alert for hummingbirds, songbirds and other wildlife. We live on main level of the home and lower level is an art studio. The Mermaid is located in the Highland Lake community located above the city of Winchester/Winsted. Guests have full access to the top floor of the house and the entire serene stroll garden which encircles the property. PARKING: Large parking space with space to store your gear. Off street parking area will be yours throughout your entire stay. Other arrangements as needed. ACCESS TO TWO TOWN LAKE BEACHES: Included with your suite is a parking pass for two beaches one 1/2 mile & 1 mile. Swimming, fishing, Kayak, canoe, jet ski, fishing boat and use the public boat launch minutes away. Your stay will include parking beach pass for both Resha Beach and Holland town beaches. (Also available upon request, I can direct you to the hidden State Park Lake access) THINGS TO DO: This is a vacation wonderland located at the foothills of the Berkshires. FINE REASUTAURANTS, ANTIQUE SHOPS, MUSEUMS, LOCAL ART STUDIOS: Excellent restaurants and antique shopping. MANY LOCAL HIKING TRAILS: Numerous local hiking trails! A 5.6 mile bike trail. Access to the Appalachian trail only 23 miles away. Too many local hiking trails to count including the Tunxis trails and Peoples Forest trails. Plan to picnic, float the Farmington River, fly fish or regular fishing (with license). Summer hiking, kayaking and swimming. Winter snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. NEARBY SCENIC NEW ENGLAND TOWNS: Litchfield, 20 minutes, Collinsville 30 MIN., Great Barrington 35 MIN, Millerton, NY 40 MIN, & Rivertown. Fifteen ( 150 minutes to trout fishing! WINTER SPORTS: Snowshoe, Cross Country Ski on Highland Lake; downhill at Ski Sundown, New Hartford, 30 MIN ; Mohawk Mountain 40 MIN; and Otis Ridge, MA., 40 minutes. Occasionally you might see me working and watering my garden. I do my best to afford my guests complete privacy in and outside. If swimming, an endless supply of clean towels is provided as needed!. I am available by cell phone to answer any and all questions 24/7 about local recreational; dining; entertainment; and cultural opportunities or any other Airbnb needs. “The Mermaid” was designed as a place for either contemplation and meditation or for recreational enthusiasts. The Mermaid is located in a quiet lake community with expected lake recreational and traffic noise mainly on holiday weekends. Highland lake is above the town and off the main highways by a few miles, so the traffic is limited during the week,until weekends. Sundays after 6:00 pm is quiet time on the lake. Highland Lake is a 444 acre lake with a perimeter of just over 6.4 miles. So yes runners, you can put in a 10 K before breakfast! Waking, jogging, and biking around the lake is common. For the local area, and the Berkshires, hiking trails, rivers, etc., a vehicle will be required. The area has Uber, commuter parking lots, beach parking, and there is limited bus service to Winsted, CT. Our House Rules follow Airbnb guidelines. Please ensure the accommodations and basic Airbnb rules fit your needs. Remember, this is a recreational lake community, so there is some lake related noise in the summer - usually on the weekends and holidays. Our Airbnb is Non-Smoking in any rooms or any where on property. If we find that anyone has smoked in our suite from your party, there will be an additional fee for professional cleaning service that you will be liable for. Pets are not allowed; No parties or loud music. Due to Airbnb and safety issues, no guests other than those booking room are allowed. Garbage receptacles must be used due to local bears and raccoons. Upon Departure: Return beach parking pass. Leave key in the door. Place used towels in the bath tub. Please remember to notify host when you leave at the end of your stay as we have bookings following bookings in the fall!!!
