The Sleeping Ute Tiny Home
Description
A simple tiny home with an open layout on 9 acres, offering views of Mesa Verde, Sleeping Ute Mountain, a wildlife-filled pond, and free-roaming chickens. Quiet, rural, and just minutes from Cortez The space This tiny home was built by a 6’7” builder, giving it a surprisingly open feel and generous ceiling height. It features a kitchen for basic cooking, a loft with a full-size bed (accessed by a tall, steep, vertical ladder), and in-wall USB charging ports. There is also a full-size pullout bed on a rolling frame tucked beneath the bathroom loft. To use it, the futon will need to be moved slightly into the kitchen area—easy to do, but the space will feel tighter. The bathroom is apartment-style, with a large shower and flush toilet, located opposite the loft sleeping area. WiFi is reliable but not as fast as in the city, as we are in a rural area. Streaming and Zoom generally work well, and many remote workers have had no issues during their stay. Guest access Feel free to explore the property, enjoy the pond, and visit with our chickens and geese. Our family hot tub is not a listed amenity but may be available depending on our schedule. Feel free to ask during your stay, and we’ll let you know. Other things to note We’ve been Airbnb hosts since the early days, and our approach reflects that “old-school Airbnb” spirit. This is a unique, handcrafted space with a bit of quirk and a lot of character—not a hotel or luxury stay. If you’re looking for a highly polished or high-maintenance experience, this may not be the right fit. We’re easygoing, responsive Superhosts who genuinely care about providing a great stay. This small business helps support our kids’ college education, so your experience—and your review—means a lot to us. If anything isn’t right, please let us know during your stay so we can make it right. • Please bring your own coffee We thoroughly clean and sanitize the space between each stay and take pride in maintaining a healthy environment for our guests. House manual, directions, and WiFi info are all available in the Airbnb app—please have it accessible during your stay. The loft ladder is tall and steep (a vertical climb), and the sleeping loft is high with a low railing. Please use care when climbing and consider the futon or pullout bed if you’re not comfortable with heights. The water heater is 6 gallons, providing about a 5-minute hot shower. It reheats fairly quickly, but please be mindful if sharing the space. To use the stove, you’ll need to push in and turn the knobs using the pliers provided. It’s a unique setup but works well once you get the hang of it. The unit is near a county road. There is some daytime activity, but nights are typically quiet. If you’re planning a group stay, we have three additional, well-spaced listings on the property: the Mesa Verde Casita, the Mesa Verde Tiny House, and the Four Corners Tiny House. You may see animals on the property, including dogs (kept near the main house), friendly roaming cats, chickens, and wildlife around the pond. If your dates aren’t available, feel free to check our other listings on the property.
