Description
The Hielans is a hilltop Victorian gothic heritage house in the heart of Lanark. Built by the Caldwell family c. 1865, it survived the devastating fire of 1959 and is a historic reminder of the village’s legacy. It is a grand home with incredible atmosphere, making it a unique place to stay while visiting the Highlands, be it to attend a wedding, golf, go antiquing, visit a sugar shack, explore nature or seek out the supernatural. The space This listing rents all three guest bedrooms but does not grant private whole-home access. The host has their own private space in the house (not pictured). Private areas are clearly marked and should not be accessed by guests. Bring your bubble!! This listing accommodates up to 6 guests. Three bedrooms are available. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have a king and queen bed respectively and share a bathroom (4 piece). Bedroom 3 has a king bed and private ensuite (3 piece). Public and private spaces are designed to facilitate compliance with public health recommendations regarding COVID and access to the kitchen may not be available depending on dates booked and protocols in effect at the relevant time. Mitigations will be in place if the kitchen cannot be shared (e.g. mini fridge, coffee maker and tableware available in the dining area). Guest access Guests will have access to certain common spaces (dining room, great room and parlour) during their stay, as well as the wraparound porch and the yard. Private spaces are clearly marked and should not be entered by guests. Guests are welcome to participate in activities that may be happening around the property (e.g. bonfire nights). Guests are welcome to river access for swimming. During your stay Host lives on site and is happy to make recommendations for things to do in the area and local businesses to support. Other things to note Please note that the house is undergoing restoration and things may appear unfinished or in progress. There may be work occurring during your stay on the property or in the common spaces but every effort will be made to minimize impact and to provide notification in advance. Work will not impact guest bedrooms or bathrooms. The home contains many Victorian antiques. Please take care with the furniture and oddities. The house has good bones but is delicate.
