InTheBluff - Galiano Island’s Oceanside Log Chalet

Located on Active Pass, the spectacular marine passage separating Galiano and Mayne islands, InTheBluff offers one of the most stunning outlooks in the Southern Gulf Islands. With 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, the log chalet accommodates up to 4. InTheBluff has an fabulous infinity-edge hot tub overlooking Active Pass. The space InTheBluff is situated clifftop overlooking the spectacular Active Pass. The log chalet not only has its own private wooded acreage and oceanfront bluff, it also has access to the adjacent to Mathews Point Regional Park (with trail to Beach below) and Bluff Park, both of which offer miles of hiking trails and numerous spectacular viewpoints. Very comfortable 2-storey artisan log chalet with the primary bedroom (queen bed), 4-piece bathroom and a TV/sitting room upstairs. The primary bedroom and TV/sitting loft each feature walkouts to view balconies. The ground level features the front living/dining room flowing to the main deck via a set of French doors. The living room has a wonderful Tulikivi soapstone fireplace that radiates warmth. Firewood is provided. The country kitchen is well equipped, and the adjacent 2-piece powder room also contains laundry facilities. The smaller second bedroom (queen bed) is also on the ground floor. The owners reside a short distance away and are also available much of the time in person or via telephone, text and/or email to answer questions and make recommendations. It's paradise - a completely private cliff-top log chalet accessed via a 1/2 km long Orca View Lane (strata) winding through the forest while being at the south end of Galiano in very close proximity to island amenities. Car, cycling and hiking are the best ways to get around Galiano Island. The closest store for provisions is 3 kilometers' (Sturdies Bay garage). InTheBluff is rural - we are on a private well and septic system and respectively request that guests be very comfortable but please preserve water and minimize on any chemicals/items put down the drain. We are not able to accommodate gatherings or parties and are an unofficial deer saunctionary with a firm no-pet policy. While our infinity-edge hot tub overlooking Active Pass is fabulous and we do our best to have it available for all of our guests, we are not able to guarantee its availability due to limited pool & spa repair expertise in the Southern Gulf Islands. Guest access This is an entire log chalet rental. Other things to note InTheBluff is rural - we are on a private well and septic system and respectively request that guests be comfortable but please preserve water and minimize on any chemicals/items put down the drain. Our self-check-in is at or any time after 3 pm and our self-check-out is at or prior to 11 am. Once known, please advise which ferry sailings you plan to take both to and from Galiano Island. Given we're booked most nights throughout the year, it's rare we can easily offer an earlier check-in and/or later check-out so we recommend that our guests plan island exploration on their traveling days. In fair weather, beach strolls, forest hikes and patios are ideal while during less fair days, the island galleries, shops and time at a cafe or pub are a great way to start and conclude island vacations! Afterall, once you arrive at InTheBluff, you may not want to leave! (Having said that, if you do plan to arrive on an early ferry and advise us, we will let you know a day or two in advance whether we're able to get you into the log chalet a few hours early.)
