Fisher Place on Johnson Creek

Fisher Place is in White's Valley along Johnson Creek. Our property is on the edge of vast woodland assuring your privacy. Large picture windows look out over the yard and the hillside across the creek. The stars are amazing. Firewood provided for wood stove/outdoor fireplace. We find delight in sharing this place with you. 50 MBPS easily accommodates working remotely, faster speeds available. The space Fisher Place is nestled into the base of a hill along a creek that runs year-round, even if you don't sleep with your window open you may be able to hear the creek. The large yard gives plenty of play space and front porch and picnic shelter allow for covered nature watching. Picture windows allow ample views of the outdoors. In an effort to preserve the character of the original craftsman we have kept renovations to a minimum. We put in a new kitchen to bring in some modern amenities (dishwasher) and closed in the back porch in order to accommodate a first-floor laundry area. We will start you off with natural cleaning products including Biokleen, Ecos, and Seventh Generation, paper products linens and well-equipped kitchen. Also available furnished by the month and longer as needed for long term rentals. Reliable, excellent WIFI Internet access provided by NEP and a SmartTV with Roku Stick is provided. Message us if you would like faster internet speeds. Erika & John Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the house, outdoor fireplace shelter and yard. All of the outbuildings are a work in progress and so are off limits, however if we are in the area we would be happy to show them to you. A garage area for one car is available for long term guests. Please, please, please do not poke around our outbuildings or our neighbor's buildings. To be a good neighbor please observe quiet time 11 PM to 7 AM Other things to note Hello and welcome to Fisher Place and the adjoining Village of Whites Valley! The Fisher Place is on a private lane about 2/10ths of a mile from the nearest road on the edge of an undeveloped woodland in a rural farming area. There will be opportunities for you to catch glimpses of many different insects and animals, (mammals, amphibians including frogs and salamanders, fish and reptiles including snakes). So grab your camera, binoculars and so on. We regularly see white tail deer and turkeys and a few years ago John saw a black bear and I caught a glimpse of a normally elusive bobcat on our property. Just a mile away and in broad daylight, we saw a bear with two cubs (that was exciting and while they are not considered dangerous we were very glad to have viewed them from inside a vehicle). As you drive about, please be mindful that animals are on the go at night. We have seen whitetail deer, bears, raccoons, skunks and even porcupines while driving around the countryside after nightfall and during the morning hours. This is not to be used as a party house. Excessive drinking and/or inappropriate behavior will not be well received. Please no smoking in the house and kindly dispose of cigarette butts in the outdoor trash cans Out of concern for the wildlife, please no fireworks of any kind other than sparklers on New Year's Eve and the 4th of July We will always be available by telephone, Airbnb messaging or email to answer any questions you might have as it is likely that you will have arrived here while we are away. Either way here are some tips for staying at our house: We enjoy walking down the lane and across 670 to venture down Johnson Creek Road, be advised though, it is best to keep to the roads as poison ivy grows well in PA so look before you leap! It may be necessary for you to build and maintain a fire in the wood stove if there is a power outage. There is a charcoal grill in the shelter and a picnic table on the porch. Before leaving, please return items to where you found them. Our TV, internet and WiFi all work well. We have stocked tea, condiments, olive oil and a selection of herbs and spices. We have a coffee machine, toaster and blender. The kitchen appliances include electric glass top range, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. Walking out from our lane and down Johnson Creek Rd is a relaxing and fairly level walk along Johnson Creek. There are well marked and somewhat maintained trails around Prompton Lake and Lower Woods Pond and rails to trails accesses in Herrick Center and Uniondale. To avoid attracting animals please keep the trash can in the back porch. Trash and recycling pickup is at the end of the driveway on Thursday mornings. Please take the can out there by 9 AM, please do not put the trash can at the end of the driveway the night before or animals may make a mess of things. If you are not staying through a Thursday or miss trash pickup, please do take trash and recycling home with you.
