Our vonHottenstein Farmhouse is surrounded by beautiful farm fields, large yard for relaxing, running and playing games, or maybe swinging on our tire swing. You will feel at home here if you are visiting the nearby Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center and Nook Sports Center. There are hiking and biking trails, a farmers market, Amish Country and shopping outlets nearby. Downtown Lancaster city is a revitalized and vibrant cultural center. If you want city life do not book this home. The space Our farmhouse is on a 26 acre farm that has been in the Hottenstein family since our immigrant bought the land in 1770. The 3 connecting farms were all part of the original property. Many of the decorations in our farmhouse reflect our heritage. The farm is not a working farm, although the fields are farmed by the neighboring farmer. This farmhouse has been the home of much laughter and many memories for 8 generations of Hottensteins, and we hope you add to those memories with your laughter and make memories of your own as you relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our farmhouse with your family and friends. Guest access You are welcome to enjoy the entire house, except the locked back room. You may also enjoy the yard. We ask that you do not enter the barn, and out buildings. Other things to note As noted in our description, please do not book our farmhouse if you want luxury accommodations and amenities. This is a farmhouse, not a townhouse. Do not book because it is the lowest price if you expect luxury. It is priced for families to relax and feel at home. While it is kept well maintained and very clean and well furnished with all the necessities, please do not expect "fluffier towels", ironed sheets, fancy window treatments and elegant furnishings. Our linens are "solar dried" so if it's windy the linens will be fluffier and if there is no wind the towels will be great to exfolliate and invigorate your skin. This is the healthiest. We also do not use any scents due to many people having allergies. We want to provide a nice, comfortable home that is affordable enough for families to stay when visiting Lancaster County. While we welcome everyone, we do not want you to have unrealistic expectations when staying at our farmhouse in the countryside. If you don't want tiny bugs in the house in summer, keep the light right outside the door turned off after dark and keep the door closed. It's all part of living in the countryside where we do not use chemicals to kill every bug that comes around the lights at night.
