We self-developed our rural property as a secluded retreat with dog-friendly gardens. To share our creation with you, we designed a private 2nd-floor guest suite (ok to bring your good dogs). Your suite includes secure parking, private entrance, deck, kitchen, dining, living, 3 beds (queen, double, twin), one bath & a fenced back yard. We are on a country road near Healdsburg, Windsor, Russian River, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Calistoga, Sonoma & Napa valleys, wineries & beaches. The space Your retreat is a second floor suite above our home with amazing views and a private deck. In fun, we call it the "penthouse retreat." We live on the first floor, primarily in the opposite end of our large home, so you will have no concerns about disturbing us. Your retreat space includes a kitchenette, dining area, a sitting area (furniture, TV, etc.) a queen bed, a double bed and a twin bed and full bath with tub/shower. Our property is located on an acre-plus of wooded hillside. The setting is expansive and very private, so disturbing the neighbors is unlikely. There should be no concerns about reasonable noise and enthusiastic laughing! Your entrance is a door off a secluded courtyard located at the rear corner of our home. This door turns immediately to a stair up to the private entrance to your penthouse suite. There is a locking door at the top of the stairs. The courtyard is not visible to the front of our home and your bicycles can stay there securely. The suite is a large, open studio with adjacent alcoves and spaces. Your main room has a gathering space with seating, cable television (HBO, Showtime, Netflix), books, puzzles and games. It includes a queen bed under an expansive window looking out into mature California Oaks and a very active hummingbird feeder. That view is serene and private, and you may see passing deer or fox. There is a single bed in a small bedroom for one guest. There is another single bed in an alcove adjacent to the dining area, and this bed is next to its own large view window. Your suite accesses your own private deck with sweeping views over the Santa Rosa plain, Russian River watershed and distant coastal hills. In the evening, you will see twinkling lights, and in the early morning, hot air balloons often ascend over the valley. The kitchenette area also has views and an under-counter refrigerator, sink, induction cooktop, microwave, coffee-maker, tea kettle and everything you might need to enjoy simple meals (no stove, oven or freezer). An heirloom round oak dining and game table and four chairs are centered in this space. For take-out food, there is an exceptional local grocery store and some good ethnic restaurants within a five to ten minute drive. Of course, you are likely to gather and bring home Sonoma valley wines and culinary treats during your day trips. Guest access You access the suite through a rear eastern courtyard door, which leads to a stair, then to a locking, suite entrance door. Parking is in our extended driveway. With advance notice, we can make accommodations for more than one car. Other things to note We have just finished renovating our entire home including your penthouse retreat. Feel free to ask us questions before or after you book so we can be sure you are as pleased as all of our prior guest with your stay with us. Let us know who you are bringing so we can prepare for your visit and make it easier and nicer for all of you. We do not allow dogs to be alone in the suite, or in crates, while you are not here with them. We love dogs and welcome them. Upon arrival, you may meet our own very friendly and reasonably well mannered dogs, Bob & Rosie. For infants, if you are traveling without your own, we can add our crib and high chair to the retreat. Our suite has worked well for extended families and groups of close friends, or associates, many of whom arrive for celebrations, athletic events or retreats. We are always so happy to welcome our return guests, and we hope that you will be among them. The listing capacity shows 9 guests, but that is to make it possible for us to include dogs and infants. With airbed mattress, etc. probably about 7-8 guests would be a practical upper limit (without a lot of additional available floor space).
