Peaceful Garden Oasis
Peaceful Garden Oasis
Description
Slip into the backyard on our quiet street to find a vibrant garden beside a cozy Moroccan-inspired studio. Listen to the birds from the bedroom window and depending on the season, you may smell magnolia, jasmin or lemon verbana. There's a small bathroom with a shower, and some basic kitchen amenities--coffee maker (French press and drip), microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Please note: there is no formal kitchen to cook. The space The space is small but very clean and comfortable. We wanted it to feel like a vacation getaway right in our backyard. The decorations are from our trips to Morocco, where my husband is from. Having a super clean space is important to me. One of the things that always grosses me out about hotels is I don't know when the last time the comforter or throw pillows on the bed were washed. We wash everything--including the comforter and throw pillows--between every visit (fresh sheets and towels are a given of course). Note: there are no cooking facilities. There is just a fridge and toaster. There is also a space heater for when it gets cold. Please enjoy our beautiful garden! It’s colorful with mint and lemon verbana growing for tea. Our cleaner Karina gets 100% of the cleaning fee—we pay for laundry and replacement of items out of the booking fee. As you will see when you stay, she leaves the place sparkling clean. This is a residential neighborhood. One more thing- solo female travelers have always told me they always feel safe here. So if you are a solo female please feel welcome! Guest access There is plenty of free street parking. We will send you instructions on how to get into the space at any time of day. No key is needed--it's a punch code. There is wifi, TV and you have access to Netflix and other channels on your TV. Other things to note We live in the front house and this is a detached studio in the backyard. We are available if you need anything from spare towels to a snack but we are busy and in and out a lot with our teen girls. The studio is next to the yard so you will hear us or see us as the yard is shared. You have a small private patio space next to the studio entrance as well. We have a private deck beside the yard where we hang out more. We’re not in the yard much during the week. We have a dog named Chai who is friendly but shy — he was a street rescue from Mexico and gets scared of new people. He has a deep bark but don’t be alarmed— he won’t hurt a fly. He likes to hang out on the deck. If you are afraid of dogs please let me know and I will keep him inside. We recently adopted a tiny 10-pound senior dog named Arlo- we think he’s a shih-tzu poodle (the shelter had no info on him). He’s also friendly but an escape artist at times so please watch the door! *** Please make sure the gate closes behind you at all times because of our dogs. *** We have two kids who are ages 17 and 18. They can be noisy when they are home. The backyard is generally quiet though during the day, although our kids and their friends may be in and out of there sometimes on the weekends so you will hear some kid noise! We discourage stays longer than 2 weeks as we like to keep it somewhat open for when our friends and family come to town.
