Description

Private bath, king bed in room with gorgeous wooded views, surrounded by hills. This house is one mile from the lifts at Mount Mansfield, private, yet a walk down the drive to the famous Matterhorn restaurant and bar, voted "Best Apres Ski Bar in America!", no driving to ski or party! Right on mountain bike trails, and next to hiking as well. No pets. The space Welcome to our home, tucked into the woods, built with the trees from the property, hewn into a post and beam structure by a local artisan, We have a glassed in stove settled into our fireplace, making it very cozy... Vermont style! Our home is light and bright and airy. Your room is warm and bright. You have the sitting room too, to give you more space to stretch out in. You have a shared bath, but it MAY be possible to set one bath aside for you, privately, if you let us know in advance. We have another room to book if you are a bigger party, "Woods Retreat #2". And "Yoga Nest" for the nimble. We can accommodate a party of 6, if need be, just ask. We live a very active lifestyle here, and can help you find your way on any trails you wish to hike, bike or ski, We are 1 mile below the ski lifts on Mount Mansfield, and right on the x-c and mountain bike trails. We are at the base of the famed Smugglers Notch for leaf peeping, hiking the long trail, and road biking. At the bottom of our drive is the well known, local watering hole, The Matterhorn Restaurant and Bar. You never have to drive! It's all right here! I can orient you to town, and where all of you who love the arts can find professional theater, music, and oodles of art galleries. We can help you discern what restaurant would suit you. I work at home as an author, and so please understand we are a busy household, we love to have you stay, but we may be working downstairs or running to an event or meeting. Just make yourselves at home upstairs and ignore us! This house is family style, all bedrooms on the upper floor, so we walk upstairs and through the sitting room to retire too. We will set out good granola for breakfast with cream and milk in the fridge, and with the coffee maker locked and loaded on top. We keep it simple here for everyone's independence, so guests can keep their own time schedule. No cooking allowed on site. There is the Mountain Road shuttle which has different schedules depending on the season, but ostensibly, you could bike or ski to our door, and have everything you need right here, and can even shuttle to town to eat and drink.... no need to ever drive! I'm an 8th generation Vermonter, with lots of info, tips and stories to share. Come be our guests! (I've just found out we need to charge 9-10% room and meals tax for the state of Vermont, this is why the price went up, sorry!! but thanks for supporting Vermont...) During your stay I work downstairs but am in and out. You can always reach me by phone or text. Registration Details MRT-10126712
