Revel in the sublime master suite with its walk-through closet, designer bathroom with radiant floor heat and sky view balcony. It is cooled with a mini-split for the summer months. The 2 downstairs bedrooms each have dedicated work spaces with high speed internet. All bedrooms have independent heating controls. The main gathering space houses the kitchen, breakfast bar, generous comfy seating and a futon for an additional guest. If you are staying for a week or less and want more room to spread out, as well as laundry facilities, our sunroom expansion space is available for +$100/ night. For groups over 5 people the sunroom expansion space is required. It provides another table for 4 with access to and views of the front patio. This lovely enhancement is courtesy of a clever and flexible floor plan. and is charged through the resolution center. Hike or bike the BEST *no-drive* with *gorgeous views of two mountain ranges* trails *right up the street*. It is a daily destination for us all year long. For the kiddos there is also a neighborhood playground with a walking track and basketball court with spectacular views of the Sangre de Christo Mountains to the east. Wander our traditionally irrigated fields and learn about the acequia system and the organic Western Family Farm on our lower field. Stroll down to the river at the bottom of the property to sit by, or in, the Santa Cruz River, which flows year round. There are tables and chairs on the bank for your picnic pleasure. The Oasis shares two walls of the gathering space with our dwelling. Guests have a private entrance and porch, and independent control of heating in every bedroom. There is complete privacy for both spaces; the bedrooms having complete separation. Talk to us about bringing your canine pals: we welcome them with an additional fee and some mutual agreement about their behaviors. We welcome you to our special corner of New Mexico. Let us know how you want to spend your time and what you want to see and do and we will help you have a perfect stay. You will have access to the entire listing and the full property. The backyard is shared with the owners, the Casita guests and our dog Bodhi. Your dog is welcome, too, with prior approval. We are always available by text or phone. We enjoy visiting with our guests, but we take our cues from you as to how much interaction you might want. La Puebla is an easily accessible rural residential area with ready access to Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos and many wonderful northern New Mexico attractions. La Puebla is considered a Traditional Historic Community because it has been inhabited for over 100 years. Our property had a Native American presence prior to Spanish times, as evidenced by the pot shards and corn grinding tools we have unearthed here. The Santa Cruz River runs the width of our land below the Oasis. Its level varies depending on the irrigation cycle. Our land is watered by two acequias, traditional irrigation ditches that bring mountain water to the valley fields via an upstream reservoir. Acequias are independently governed in each locale, headed by a mayor domo who is in charge of allocating the water to each parciante (water user) in times of scarcity or plenty. We are happy to share our experience and knowledge as parciantes on the Maestas and La Puebla ditches. A five minute walk up the street is a great playground with basketball hoops and a walking track. There is also the fantastic BLM open space for hiking or biking where we start or end most days. Hiking at the end of the day brings an ever-changing scene of spectacular mountain vistas of the Sangre de Christos (Blood of Christ) to the east and the Jemez Mountains to the west. Also in the neighborhood is a local chapel that was recently restored and the High Road to Taos is right around the corner. All this within 5 minutes of the Casita. There is so much more a little further afield. Whether you are up for a retreat, remote work stay or an active holiday come and enjoy the unique and beautiful Oasis if you want a taste of the real New Mexico. Although there is some public transport in the area, which some guests have relied on exclusively with our support, having a car is essential to accessing the many close, and far flung attractions and services in the area. Breakfast items are provided for your first night to get you started with your stay. Coffee, tea, nut milk, granola, fruit and yogurt. Spices, oil and vinegar are stocked to hold you through your visit.
