Lakeside Cottage, Owasco Lake- NY

This cozy cottage has an authentic cabin feel. We recently purchased the property and chose to keep the original charm and features it offers. We love that it provides a simple escape from everyday life. When you walk in you are instantly welcomed by large windows in the living room giving you full lake views. The open, quaint setting of this cottage allows you to reconnect with your family and friends. The home has waterfront access to Owasco Lake. The space Cottage # 547 at Fire Lane 32, also known as Indian Cove. We are located 5 minutes from Fillmore Glen State Park and 25 miles from Ithaca NY, which hosts several state parks and beautiful waterfalls. This is a small neighborhood community that houses many year round homes. Due to this being a community of year round homes you may hear them mowing their lawns, cutting wood or working on their homes, this includes construction. We do not have control over our neighbors and this should not be confused with a "resort like" listing. We envision small groups or families, with the understanding we have the ability to sleep just 4 or (5 with the use of the couch). Parking is tight on this lake road and we have room for 2 cars only. Please read through all of the details, prior to booking. We’ve tried to be as specific as possible about the listing: • This cottage does NOT have WiFi, or a T.V. (we do not plan on installing wifi as to preserve the tranquility and allow disconnect). We completely understand that total disconnection is not for everyone, but what a retreat it can be. Cell service can be tricky, we have Verizon and have no problems making/receiving calls or texting. However, streaming or internet searches will not work on the property. • The home has a small, but very functional kitchen. You can cook many of your meals here as there is a refrigerator, small stove/oven, coffee pot and ample counter space for a smaller cottage style home. We have provided the basic cooking equipment. • Outside is a propane grill for your use. The back deck hosts a large picnic table for dining. Enjoy your morning coffee on the upper deck, at bistro style tables. • We provide the basic amenities for your stay, including: towels, washcloths, linens, pillows, dish-cloths, toilet paper, garbage bags, and soaps- such as dish and hand (all plant based). We do not provide paper towels, paper products, sponges, toiletries, etc • We have 3 kayaks, and a small row boat on the property for your use. Life jackets located in the bin on the deck. *You will be sent specific directions to the cottage after you book. Just to note: you will utilize a fire lane to the lake, these are "roads" off the main road. It is down hill, with curves (not a dirt road). It is a very beautiful drive... all though some may disagree. Just use caution, as this may not be a drive you are use to. Please keep in perspective- this is a road access to year round homes, so it is utilized throughout winter. This is a seasonal cottage, we host April through October. Due to it being seasonal we cannot predict what the weather may be like, especially early Spring and late Fall. We try our best to make sure the cottage is as comfortable as possible for your stay. The main area of the cottage has heat, however the 2 bedrooms do not. You should plan accordingly based on the weather knowing that this is a seasonal home. • We provide sheets and bedding- extra blankets are up to you, if you choose. Older, seasonal cottages on the lake can be chilly and drafty, depending on the weather. Also, they can be hot, without AC. • We do have ceiling fans in every room. • Plan for the season you are renting in: weather, mosquitoes, clothing, beach accessories, etc We do not provide smaller amenities such as: Personal toiletries, beach towels, paper products, spices, condiments, cooking oils, etc. Bottled water: many residents of the Lake drink the filtered water from the tap. We will not encourage or discourage, as this is a personal choice. We recommend everyone uses their own discretion. We have a Brita Water pitcher in the refrigerator for your use. This is a very peaceful, lake getaway. We do not provide entertainment… the happiest of guests were those that could enjoy the lake, the water, the quiet and did their research of the area and all there is to offer in Finger Lakes. I’m happy to provide local suggestions and take a look at our guidebook, where we’ve listed many favorites. **You will need to access the lake by utilizing stairs, as pictured** **You will access the cottage from the parking area via stairs** **stairs and decking can be slippery when wet, handrails should be used at all times, caution should be taken after a rain storm or when leaves have fallen, children and those having difficulty with stairs should be assisted and never left alone*** ** This home is on a body of water, caution should be taken at all times when utilizing the water, dock, kayaks or any activity by the lake. Children should always be supervised. There is a drop off at the end of the dock, where the water becomes very deep** Guest access The entire 2 bedroom cottage is yours when you rent it. Private parking and entry Other things to note Guests will need to utilize stairs from parking the car to the cottage and back. Guests will need to utilize stairs for lake access. **Stairs are steep and can be slippery when wet (take caution after rain storms and always utilize the hand rails) **children need to be monitored at all times on the property** ** This home is on Owasco Lake, supervision is required for those utilizing water activities and safety is the guests responsibility** We do not have WiFi or T.V. Per AirBNB rules, no parties or large groups (no more than 5 for this listing) are allowed. Your reservation will be canceled by AirBNB and you will not receive a refund. We do not allow pets at this property. This is a seasonal home, preparing for the weather will help your stay be more enjoyable. There is electric heat in the main area. There is no Air conditioning Guests have asked if they can drink the faucet water, we leave this up to your discretion. The water goes through a filtration system, coming from the lake. Many residents drink the water, others do not. This is your choice.
