Peaceful Waterfront Retreat on The Bay
This is a serene, waterside cabin with a private dock, nestled on quiet St. Leonard Creek about one hour outside of Washington, DC. You will enjoy a close quarters stay in this rustic studio cabin, and it is the perfect getaway for anyone looking for some peace and quiet. Come on your own to finally get some work done, or bring your family to enjoy the outdoors! We have two kayaks and two canoes. The house is great for up to two couples looking to catch up and explore the surrounding area. The space This cabin was built by our family. It has gotten a lot of love over the years and is wonderful retreat any month of the year. Although it is a generally rustic space, the cabin has strong wifi, an extensive vintage record collection, and plenty of great boardgames to keep everyone entertained. It also has central A/C and heat, so you can be comfortable year-round. While you are there we encourage you to feed the local birds that love our strategically placed bird feeders. Please make the most of private outdoor patio that includes a picnic table, charcoal grill, fire pit, and multiple seating options for you to relax and enjoy the view. If you've ever wanted to try your luck at crabbing we have everything you need to catch and cook them for your very own crab feast, just bring some bait! We have two kayaks and two canoes available, and PFDs in a variety of sizes (including kids) so you'll be able to get everyone on the water. The cottage has the ability to sleep 6 if you don't mind sharing quarters, and it has a kitchen and washer/dryer for your convenience. Guest access By booking with us you get full access to the cabin and the surrounding grounds. There are a lot of great local hikes and restaurants nearby. Other things to note The loft bed is a fun experience as it looks over both the kitchen and living areas of the house, but you must climb a ladder to access it and head space is very limited. If your party is smaller, I suggest sleeping on (1) the Murphy bed (a full), and (2) the sofa bed (a larger full) - save the loft bed for older children or very nimble adults. There is an outdoor fire pit for your enjoyment. Two kayaks and two canoes are available to use during the paddling season. We also have an outdoor charcoal grill for your use. The indoor fireplace is currently out of service and may not be used. The cabin does not have curtains on the windows, so it does get bright in the morning, particularly in the summer months. Note that the stairs down to the dock are fairly long and steep. Children are welcome but please be aware of the natural hazards presented by the water and the hillside, which may require close supervision of children, depending on their age. Please also be aware that you may encounter bugs, both outside and in. We try to minimize indoor bugs with regular cleaning, but this property is fundamentally a close-to-nature cabin. Trash is picked up on Wednesdays from the curbside can. Smoking is not permitted inside or around the cabin.
