Main house and apartment are on an interior lot, on 5 acres. Very private. Tree line surrounds lovely yard and well maintained property. Private. Comfortable chair near large plate glass window, lends itself to quiet contemplative time. Perfect place to get caught up on some reading, writing, any other creative endeavor, or put your feet up and relax. Queen Size Brass Bed. Fully functioning kitchen, supplied with herbal teas, coffee filters and some snacks. This small studio apartment is very clean and spacious feeling, with plenty of natural light and a sky light in the bedroom. It has a lofty, almost tree house like feel. You'll have full use of the apartment and it's small private deck. We live on site. One of us is frequently working in the yard or gardens or you may see us outside with our dogs. We can interact as little or as much as you'd like. We are available to answer questions and help make your visit more comfortable should any issues arise. We are well acquainted with the many near by nature preserves and local businesses and can offer lots of advice on good places to hike, eat and shop. We live in a rural and very quiet family oriented neighborhood. There's plenty to do in the area if you like hiking and outdoor activities! We are a very short drive from the Steep Rock Association Nature Preserves which contain some of Connecticut's best hiking trails. We are also about 5 minutes from beautiful Lake Waramaug where canoes and kayaks can be rented in the summer, or bring your bikes and enjoy a bike ride around the lake. The award winning Hopkin's Vineyard Winery is near by. It's open daily and on the weekends features live music. Averill's apple orchard is just around the corner for apple picking in the fall, delicious pies and famous cider donuts. We are close to several of the private boarding schools in the area including The Gunnery and Rumsey Hall. You'll need a car or bring your bikes. We are a 10 - 20 minute drive to many 'destination' New England towns: Washington Depot CT, Litchfield CT, Kent CT, and New Milford CT. The Scenic Steep Rock Land Trust and Preserve is right down the road with over 900 acres of hiking trails, rivers, scenic outlooks and picnic tables. Space for 2 cars to park close to apartment stairwell. Park diagonally, so another vehicle can fit to your left. Please drive carefully coming in and out of driveway, since dogs may be out. If you are traveling with a child, we will accept the child as a 3rd guest. We have a twin blow up mattress that fits snuggly on the floor, on the side of the bed. During winter months, you may need all wheel drive to make it up our driveway.
