-Our beach is private, key and beach tag provided- (in brown shed) This 1000+ sf home, features a newly renovated kitchen, outdoor shower, and many quirks that come with a 90 year old home. The furnishings are eclectic and vintage. Most of the flooring is also new. The beach and bluffs are only about a 2 minute walk. The 1/4 acre lot is shared with a secondary unit as you can see in the photos which is occupied by my sister. Guests can use the entire shared property but only park in the blue gravel driveway I’m primarily only at the property on weekends. We have self checkin but I’m happy to show you around upon request if I’m there. Neighbors are friendly too. My cleaning lady is in earshot and can help if she is around The neighborhood boomed in the roaring 20's as a beach town. Today you can find an eclectic mix of old bungalows and larger more modern homes. Streets are narrow, charming and rustic, Many artists have moved into the community, but there are also some homes that were boarded up for the summer 50 years ago an haven't been reopened since. Soundview drive is great for exploring and has many scenic overlooks along its 2 miles. Joggers and chickens frequent the gravel road. Night fishing is popular at our beach. Summer sunsets attract many evening beach goers. Beaches do have some rocks. Look for water shoes for comfort when swimming. 3 Blocks away is the historic 300 year old Hallock house, open for tours every Saturday afternoon in the warmer months, the family cemetery is a block west of it, and the second largest bolder on Long Island is just a block south. Broadway is just over a mile away (uphill for bikers) and has a small downtown with a Sunday Farmers market in the warmer months, it has about 5 eateries and a few other small shops. Shopping centers with all your needs are just as close. Just south of the main road (25a) is what we locally refer to as the RCA property, at 6000 acres, its the largest mountain biking course on long island. Once the field head quarters of RCA, bikers can find ruins of their many buildings and radio towers. The NikolaTesla lab is just 2 miles east, not fully open to the public yet, as funds are still needed, but the grounds are open. You can google the experiments he did there if you want to be spooked. Just west is downtown port jefferson if you want some nightlife, just east is downtown wading river and "la plage" if you want to feel like you're going back in time. And of course the scenic North Fork wine trail starts just a few miles east of Rocky Point The port Jefferson line of the Long Island railroad is about 20 minutes away. Stores are over a mile away. I have some bikes but they may be a bit rusted. A new bike trail was installed just east of the port Jefferson train station and runs through Rocky Point into Wading River. There is no proper oven at this time, just s big toaster oven. While some parts of the house have been renovated, signs of its 90 yo age are apparent like bedroom doors, moldings, etc. the ceiling in the main floor is a bit low, the bathroom is small for the size of the house as it was added on later. The front porch hosts many large plants in the winter time. Cell phone service is poor, so you may have to set your phone for WiFi calls. A snow shovel will be provided in the event of a snow storm as I may not be available.
