It's also surrounded by dozens of hiking trails, easy access to Thumb Butte and other recreational areas offered by the national forest service. You will need a vehicle to get around. In January, February and March, during peak Snow Season, a 4-wheel drive is highly recommended. You may see wildlife in the area including Deer, Coyotes, Javelina and Racoons to name a few.
