Sabino House is named after sabi, a core concept of the Japanese aesthetic wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in age, imperfection, and the quiet passage of time. Located in Shimabara, Kyoto’s former hanamachi (geisha district), this historic area was once walked by the Shinsengumi. Facing the Shimabara Gate, rebuilt in 1867, Sabino House was renovated by Shigenori Uoya, a leading architect in machiya restoration. Enjoy a calm stay where history, architecture, and sabi gently come together. For stays of 1-2 guests, no futon will be provided. For 3 guests, 1 futon will be provided (2 futons for 4 guests). If you need additional futons, please request them in advance. Each futon can be arranged for 2,200 yen per set.
